★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have been visiting Blue Nile since 2017, we loved the food here and the atmosphere which is usually quiet and elegant. Today, however, will be our last time visiting - we simply can't justify the amount of money being charged for the food/drinks.They charged us 5 dollars for 1 CAN of coke (and no refills). I understand restaurants are already operating on a small margin, and smaller mom and pop restaurants have even a smaller margin at times. I understand that price in food may go up, especially year over year, and we don't mind paying for good food. And pay we did, because when looked at our bill for lunch we had sticker shock, it was over 68+ dollars for lunch. We got the veggie combo and the meat combo, the same combo we've ordered for years. Plus tax and tip and it was well over 80 dollars for lunch. The last time we went earlier this year I could have sworn it was closer to 50 dollars total. Also, they didn't serve us the cabbage that's in the picture from earlier this year - so we got one less item. The restaurant didn't have their AC on today and the ceiling fans were broken according to our waitress. So it was warmer than normal inside and she wasn't allowed to turn on the AC. The service was nice enough, but nothing stood out. They're getting 2 stars for the memories and the food which was still very good, but we won't be back.
July 28 · Sany ChayGood place entree portions are generous, too big to finish you'll need a to go plate. Healthy food. When talking to the waitress about other Ethiopian restaurants in Houston she was very gracious and had a positive attitude about other locations and didn't have anything ugly to say and that was very professional of her and she really gave a great service and had a nice vibe. I liked very much how she didn't have a negative attitude about other places and was very complimentary of them. It shows a good example of how businesses in the same industry should treat each other because there is an interest for businesses to promote excellence amongst each other and this place handles that very well. Ethiopian food in Houston is represented great by this place and their people.
July 11 · Frankie Mo. HDI took my sister to Blue Nile for her birthday. She absolutely loved it! Our waitress, Yeala, was so good to us. She explained the menu in detail and answered an abundance of questions with enthusiasm, patience, and kindness. It was nice meeting the owner too (very sweet woman).Simply put, Blue Nile has great energy and great food. All of the guests were in awe of the food (and coffee)!
May 15 · James HarrisBlue Nile is very good Ethiopian good. The atmosphere is great and the food was tasty. Our only issue was that some of our servers couldn’t answer questions about the food, menu or favorites because of language barriers. Overall I enjoyed the experience.
June 07 · Denise B. aka Chef D BanksWhat a great spot. Houston's Ethiopian answer to the Queen of Sheba in New York. Service was super friendly. Owner was especially attentive and funny. Food price might seem a little high, but it's worth the rare treat! I suggest the vegetable platter with your choice of meat. It's great with their tea! I'll miss the Injera bread.
