★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The place is located inside the small gas station. As soon as we entered the store, the smell from the kitchen was mouth watering. There were only 3 small round tables with 2 chairs each. We were immediately welcomed as we approached the area and were told that the best sellers were the hot topic and the overload. But due to it being Lent Friday, we just opted for the Fish & Shrimp with Fries and The Hot Topic. We came in at 12:35pm and it seemed like they were already really busy considering they just opened at 12pm (which is always a good sign of good food so I was really excited!). It's a family owned business that has been around for 2 years. Although the wait was a bit long, you can see all 4 of them (a couple and 2 daughters?) running around in the small kitchen working diligently to make orders for everyone. They're just honest, friendly, and hard-working people and I would love to come back and try out the other popular dishes. The Fish & Shrimp with Fries were 6.5/10. Flavor was good. There were 2 pieces of fried fish and 8 pieces of small-medium fried shrimp. Fish was flakey and moist and nothing was fishy. The fries were a bit of a disappointment as they were not crispy but limp and soggy. For $20, I just anticipated something a bit better... We still finished all of it though. The Hot Topic were 9/10. Well seasoned, not too salty & has a little kick. There were 2 blackened filet fish and grilled shrimps in a creamy sauce over a bed of white rice. The rice was a bit harder than we would've liked, but overall still a good dish. If lime or lemon was offered with this, I just think it would add a great balance to it, but that's just my preference.
March 21 · Lucelle PhanHoly moly!!! Do not let the location steer you away!Bo-bobs is THEE SPOT! *mouth waters*I was trying to find soul food on my trip to Houston and came across Bo-bobs. At first I thought “hmm a in a gas station.…” but look at their photos, I mean, kinda hard to say no to those photos…we felt it was only right to give it a try!My family and I walked in and instantly were greeted by a very sweet couple. They had a glowing aura around them that secured the feeling—you came to the right place. They offered us a sample of their gumbo and there was no going back….we ordered everything!!!Lord baby Jesus this food is amazing. We ordered:Shrimp and grits, catfish, the overload gumbo, all the gumbos actually, fried chicken, fries and broccoli corn bread (sorry to forget the names. I'm typing this while I'm in a food coma)We pretty much got two of everything. The sauce is delicious. Shrimp grilled and fried to perfection. Cat fish was yummy! The fried chicken doesn't even need sauce! Fried and flavored to perfection!!Highlights:-Great customer service-Awesome experience-DON’T JUDGE THE OUTSIDE, ITS THE INSIDE IS WHAT MATTERS 😋-seriously whatever food you get is going to be a hug and kiss to your soul.-large portion size-you probably should wear your stretchy pants while you enjoy this…my pants can't button.Thank you Angel and family!!!! June 24 · mvpj168I got the Overload (pictured) and the gumbo. They're delicious af. Full range of flavors and depth. It's in a gas station but they do have some seating. I took my food to McGovern garden down the way and had a great lunch. Do yourself the favor and check it out.
