★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I recently visited Doko in Houston, and it was a really good experience overall! The atmosphere was great—modern yet cozy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The menu offers a variety of unique dishes, and the flavors didn’t disappoint. I especially enjoyed the Nasu eggplant, Hamachi crudo, the chicken fat rice was interesting but have had better fried rice before. Tebasaki chicken wings were nice but could not taste the yuzu enough. I enjoyed the Gochujung kFC- the spice and the crispiness of the wings was perfect. Definitely loved the bluefin otoro, madai, Hamachi, unagi and Kinoko! We ended with a delicious cheesecake.I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes and would recommend it to anyone looking for a flavorful, enjoyable meal.
March 22 · gau'tam shiro'dkarWe visited during Houston Restaurant Weeks and enjoyed our experience for the most part. The portions were small which we thought could be due to the pre-fixe menu, however many people's plates were equally small outside of that. When I asked our server if the portions were small before ordering, she said no. I understand trying to save face for Doko, but I appreciate honesty a lot more. That being said, service was attentive, but our first server got one of our courses wrong, unfortunately.Very innovative food... at the end of the day, this is a spot you go to if you're not that hungry and want small bites of food. Try the A5 wagyu.
August 07 · KaylaI really enjoyed my time in this establishment. The food itself was amazing: I feel they are trying new things while paying the utmost respect to the original cuisine; the mix of flavors they experimented with on their raw offerings were sublime, and their cooked options were also extremely good (I prefer raw traditional Japanese food, sue me). Service was A++, same with ambiance. Their signature cocktail, the Japanese Watermelon drop was fantastic as well. Highly recommended!
June 23 · Freddy VelasquezHad the $75 lunch tasting and honestly loved every bite. Super fresh, super flavorful-everything was just really well done.Drinks were a bit pricey, but they were really good, so no complaints there.Service was amazing—everyone was so friendly and on point. Definitely planning to come back!
April 05 · Candra CalvinI loved this restaurant’s cozy, eclectic atmosphere. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and the food was overall delicious. Some standouts include the chicken fat rice and the chef’s choice nigiri. They also had some great lunch set deals, and they have several options in their yakitori menu for non-sushi eaters as well. Overall, the presentation and execution of detail was incredible. I would definitely recommend trying this place out!
