Tried Hot Chicken Takeover for the first time and it delivered. I got the classic chicken sandwich (minus the slaw, added cheese), and the flavor was on point—crispy, juicy chicken with just the right kick. The fries were seasoned perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft inside.The only letdown? The bun. It came out ice cold—not even slightly warm or toasted—which really clashed with how good everything else was. That said, the chicken itself was so good that I do want to come back and give it another shot. If they serve it with a warm, toasted bun next time, it could be amazing. But if I get another cold bun, I might either skip the sandwich or go for something that doesn’t come on bread. Just a personal pet peeve, but it matters.

With a sad heart, this is not the Hot Chicken Takeover I used to love. This place was the best. Recently had heard they went through owner change. What I did not expect was everything on the menu would also be changed. The best part of the underwhelming meal was the chicken as the spices did taste similar to the old style. The chicken itself was much thicker where they used to butterfly the breast pieces to increase the flavor ratios. Everything else was really bland. The Mac and cheese looked incredible but soon realized that it looked like it was covered in Velvetta. The mash potatoes were also very runny. Listen at the end of the day I could go to lengths on why the food at HCT is subpar since the owner change, not sure if they had bought the recipes or if they thought they could increase profits with different ingredients. The staff was really cool. Bottom line, this place is not as mind blowing as it once was. If you are fine with paying excellent food prices for very forgettable food that is on you. Likely won’t be eating here until I hear they change the menu back. So sad.

This is an expensive meal for what it is. Fast food. The chicken was a tad dry- the spice level of the Nashville hot was decent, and yea spicy.The pickles are a nice touch. The cinnamon spice butter spread is good. I did request ketchup, which was not included. They did provide the sauce I requested.The green beans weren't full, they also were bland. I was able to add salt and pepper from home and that perked them up. I would have expected some onion in them for flavoring. This is a big opportunity for improvement, and an easy fix.The only thing that was seasoned from my order was the chicken. The fries also needed seasoning. The white bread needed the butter I requested.In Columbus we have an over abundance of chicken places and there are other places that fare better for a more reasonable price.The hand pie was okayish. The peaches were a little crunchy for my taste, and my southern mammaw may have spoiled me on what a true hand pie should be, this was not a true southern hand pie.

I'm so disappointed in this place. I brought my mom to this place to show her how good it is only to be SUPER DISAPPOINTED. The chicken isn't the same it has a sort of burnt skin, the pickles were SWEET they didn't used to be. Disgusting. Fried sweet pickles??? Yuck! And the banana pudding is TERRIBLE. it used to be delicious. What has happened????
