In the vast ocean of Houston's food options, what makes Ono Poke the right choice for your next meal?
The reviews tell a compelling story. A fan of the restaurant enthusiastically declared the "Spicy Salmon" bowl to be "the greatest bowl in the universe," and added that Ono Poke has "by far the best quality bowls in Houston." This high praise for the food's quality is a recurring theme among satisfied customers. The feeling of being "completely satisfied" after a regular-sized bowl, despite the focus on quality, also addresses a common concern about portion sizes at fast-casual restaurants.
However, it's also important to acknowledge that not every experience is perfect for everyone. One review noted the bowl was "95% salad and remaining 5% was bits and pieces of added toppings and about 7 small pieces of tuna." While this opinion is a valuable data point, it highlights the importance of the "Create Your Own" option, which allows you to control the ratio of ingredients. It also underscores the importance of the staff's preparation, which can vary from day to day.
Ultimately, what is worth choosing about Ono Poke is its dedication to a fresh, healthy, and high-quality product. For those who value the superior taste and texture of premium seafood and are looking for a satisfying meal that won't leave you feeling weighed down, Ono Poke is an excellent choice. Its downtown location, coupled with its convenient service options and tranquil atmosphere, makes it a reliable and refreshing spot for a lunch or dinner that feels both nourishing and delicious. It's a place that takes a simple concept—a bowl of fish and rice—and elevates it to something truly special.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love ono poke!! The spicy salmon is the greatest bowl in the universe-add unagi drizzle for a life changing bowl. By far the best quality bowls in Houston. The bowls are not overpriced for me, but I prefer QUALITY over quantity! Also, they’re not small bowls! I feel completely satisfied after eating a regular. I’m so sad the location on Richmond closed because that was my go to spot for years!
August 05 · Hayley BassiFirst and last time to this place. $14 for this tiny bowl with 95% salad and remaining 5% was bits and pieces of added toppings and about 7 small pieces of tuna.Definitely not worth it
May 22 · MARCIANO SILVAIt is a bit bland. It still tasted okay, but it was definitely a "food court" poke place, and probably the worst poke I have tried. Not to say inedible, but every single other poke place I have tried was a league above this. They are very stingy on the fish serving size.I did not get sick and the raw fish was fresh. So it is perfectly safe for anyone to try out. But if you were not too impressed as a first impression - just note there are better options out there for Poke bowls, and at a better price.
January 28 · Katrina S.Used to love it but portions have shrunk. Perhaps not so much for the fish but definitely for the greens and rice consistently my last 5-7 visits. Pretty sure this is the reason why there is never a line any more but other businesses right next to it can barely keep up. A healthy lunch does not have to be a tiny lunch - just ask Leaf & Grain nextdoor. Fix the issue if you want to remain in business. I'll give it another change in a few weeks but if the issue persist, I wont be coming back.
August 31 · Laura NevadoI can't recommend Ono Poke anymore. Everytime I have gone the portions keep getting smaller and the prices keep going up. The large poke bowl portions are now smaller than the regular used to be. I have been going here for years and it's just disappointing now. Today was my last time.
