Life is endlessly fascinating... you really do get back what you put out into the world. The food at this place was always really good. However, the owners — Maribel and her mother, Virginia — were absolutely horrible to their employees. I know because I worked there. They would take my tips and give me whatever they thought I should get. They were openly disrespectful and hateful, taking turns embarrassing me in front of customers — and I never understood why. I stayed quiet and took the abuse because I really needed the job.Some customers even went to bat for me because it was so bad... which only made it worse. They would cancel my family meal for the night even though I could be there for 8 hours!The mother used to sing, and when I shared that I did too, she had me sing before the customers and I received a standing ovation... from that point on things somehow got even worse. When I finally found the courage to ask why I was being treated that way, they fired me — and they wouldn't give me the tips I had earned that night. They went as far as taking my personal money, claiming it was tip money. Since I didn’t have carfare to get home, a kind customer drove me. I told the owners I had no way to get home... they didn’t care.You really can't make this stuff up.Life, however, has a way of working things out — because from the moment I left, my life immediately started to get better. This was, by far, the most toxic work environment I had ever experienced.I don’t share this with hatred in my heart but with a need to heal from the experience. I truly wish them healing and peace, but my story matters too and the truth deserves to be spoken. That time was deeply painful, but it helped shape the strong, free person I am today, and for that, I’m grateful.

The food tasted like my Grandmother’s cooking. Authentic and delicious. There’s a comfortable ambience, classy yet approachable. The lovely bartender Justine was welcoming, made excellent drinks, and she just made my experience a lot of fun. I’ll definitely be back.

Wait time was long given the boost they recently got on TikTok, but honestly it was all worth the wait!! They had one bartender/waitress who did it all! She was wonderful. I went with a party of three and got an order of chicken pastelitos which were so good! We also got two camarofongos and one mofongo with masitas. All plates were delicious!! On Sundays they also do karaoke which made the wait time more fun. Would definitely come back, the staff here is so nice and the food was delicious.
