Adel's Famous Halal Food Introduce
When it comes to New York City street food, few places have achieved the legendary status of Adel's Famous Halal Food. Situated in the heart of Midtown, this food cart has become a destination in its own right, drawing long lines of hungry locals and tourists who are all in on a not-so-secret tip: the food is worth the wait. Adel's specializes in classic halal cart fare, serving up generous platters of chicken, lamb, and falafel over rice, all drizzled with their signature sauces.
This isn't just a place for a quick meal; it's an experience. The atmosphere is casual and trendy, with the excitement building as you wait in line, anticipating the deliciousness to come. Despite the often-long queues, the service is known to be fast and friendly, with the staff moving with impressive efficiency. Adel's has cemented its reputation as a must-try spot for lunch, dinner, and even late-night bites, serving up comfort food that is both flavorful and substantial.
Adel's Famous Halal Food is located at the corner of 1221 6th Ave, New York, NY 10020. This prime location in Midtown, near Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center, makes it a convenient stop for anyone exploring the area or heading home after a show. It's a true street-side establishment, offering a quintessential New York street food experience.
While the cart itself doesn't have a physical building, it does offer outdoor seating, allowing customers to enjoy their meal right on the sidewalk. For those who prefer to eat elsewhere, both takeout and delivery options are available. The late-night hours are a significant highlight, with the cart typically starting around 6:00 PM and operating until 4:00 AM on weekdays and 5:00 AM on weekends, perfect for a post-show or post-party meal.
Adel's Famous Halal Food provides a streamlined service model focused on efficiency and convenience.
- Takeout: The core of their business, allowing customers to grab their food and go.
- Delivery: Available through popular third-party apps, making their delicious food accessible to those who can't make it to the cart.
- Outdoor Seating: A few tables and chairs are available for a casual, street-side dining experience.
- Late-Night Food: A significant part of their appeal, with hours extending well into the early morning.
- Quick Bite: Known for their fast service once you reach the front of the line, perfect for a satisfying meal on the run.
Adel's has earned its famous reputation through a combination of quality and unique features.
- Signature Sauces: The food is known for its "deliciousness" which is often attributed to the "signature sauces." The white sauce is particularly famous, but the hot sauce adds a perfect kick for those who love spicy food. Some reviews even suggest a mix of the two for the ultimate flavor combination.
- Generous Portions: Customers consistently rave about the large portions, noting that a single platter is more than enough to fill you up. This makes it an excellent value for the price.
- Halal Certified: All ingredients are halal, catering to a wide range of customers seeking certified food options. The lamb is a mix of lamb and beef, a common practice in halal carts, which contributes to its rich flavor.
- The "Worth the Wait" Hype: A defining feature of the Adel's experience is the line. The long queues, which can stretch for up to an hour, have become part of the thrill, building anticipation for the meal. Customers consistently report that the hype is justified, and the food lives up to their expectations.
- Friendly Staff: Despite the fast pace and long lines, the staff is consistently described as super friendly and welcoming, which enhances the overall customer experience.

When you've finally reached the front of the line at Adel's, the choice is simple but important. The Chicken Over Rice Platter and the Lamb Over Rice Platter are the two main stars of the menu. Customers often debate which is better, but a popular strategy is to order the Mix Platter, which gives you both chicken and lamb, allowing you to try the best of both worlds. The lamb, which contains beef, is often singled out as a favorite for its deep, savory flavor.
Another key choice is the rice. Adel's offers a choice between a fluffy yellow rice and a spicier version, which adds an extra layer of flavor to the meal. For a true taste of the Adel's experience, be sure to ask for their signature white sauce and a drizzle of the hot sauce. Adding fries to the platter is also an option that many customers appreciate for a little extra indulgence.
Beyond the platters, the Falafel Gyro is a great vegetarian option, offering a tasty and satisfying alternative. For those who want something on the side, the Fries are a popular addition and perfect for sharing. No matter what you choose, a platter from Adel's is guaranteed to be a generous, flavorful, and memorable meal that is a true New York institution.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Food Quality is Really Good. They serve excellent bowls of deliciousness. ❤️The portions were super generous and Their signature sauces were Packed with flavor and absolutely delicious.Queues can get Very large and you have to wait around 40 to 50 min in the queue but it’s worth the wait. The staff was super friendly. They starts around 6 Pm till late Night.Overall, it was a great experience. I think If you’re in New York, Adel's is a Must Try ❤️.
July 09 · Haider IqbalJust the feeling of waiting in line for 50 min to get food from a street vendor is a way to get you hyped for the food. And yes the hype is worth it. We tried both chicken over rise and lamb over rise. Both was great but the lamb was the best one.We took french fried to, so then it was just to much food. And they were good to.So yes it its worth going there.
August 19 · Anders ErikssonI believe it’s overrated, you can have this level of taste from many other well known places, it doesn’t worth to wait for more than an hour just in a long queue to have this food, tried whole menu almost, but I didn’t see something extra ordinary that makes your 1 and half hour waiting worthy. You can enjoy somewhere else the same food taste. Also, you’re paying more with card, so whenever you go there take cash with you. They can way improve there system but they want to see people waiting to keep their hype. Although they can easily reduce the line by increasing their staff to serve more people simultaneously.
July 05 · You Got Best WorkWe ordered the mix platter that came with a mix of chicken and lamb. You can also top the platter with French fries. The meats are so moist and tender. They gave you plenty of meats so it definitely worths the price. It was super tasty goes well with the white and spicy sauce. I would definitely go back to have it again.Unfortunately, the queue is very long every single day regardless if it’s weekend or weekday. Even we went there at 9pm almost 10pm, we waited for over 50 mins. So be prepared for the waiting.
August 18 · Mind ThamaratanasiriI almost don’t want to write this because I wish fewer people knew about Adel’s Halal. This place is that good.I lined up at 5:30pm thinking I was early, but there was already a long line — it took about an hour to finally get my order, and honestly, it was worth every minute. The portions are generous, the lamb and beef are insanely flavorful and tender, and the spicy sauce ties everything together perfectly. And don’t even get me started on the fries — unbelievably crispy, like they were made to be addictive. I’m literally craving it again just writing this review. If you’re willing to wait, it’s a game-changer. Just don’t tell too many people — some things are too good to share.
