★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Good, but not great or perfect. Ordered the fried fish and chicken wings. The batter on the fried fish was salty. Green beans were fine. The chicken wings were alright, not bad, not good. The mac & cheese was decent. Cornbread was phenomenal. No cocktail sauce available for the fried fish (is that just a Southern thing?) The sitting area inside is small, but enough to seat different parties. The air-conditioning is lacking. It needs to be colder inside, as all the customers inside at the time I was there were talking about
June 18 · JDJRN JDJRNNot disappointed at all. We did have to wait a little. However it was all worth it. The honey chicken , fried okra, pork chops (mom’s meal) , rice and that gravy was excellent. My Mac & cheese was cold. I was elated the food taste as good as before. It’s nice to see a good business thriving and being consistent. Thanks to the owner sitting us even tho it was a little confusion when we walked in. Since they had a large party.
March 01 · Tahjai WardIt’s so great to see this downtown location open. Some of the best soul food I’ve ever had! We got the President Barack Obama with smothered chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, and cornbread. All of it was fantastic! Really flavorful and plenty of food. The service was also phenomenal. Really kind folks greeted us. We left stuffed and happy! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for great food in Harlem or downtown.
November 18 · Corbin J. StandleyI love the ambiance and wall art. Representation matters and it screams black owned as soon as you step in. I love the tables and seating but I don't like the big open spaced kitchen. I feel like there should have been a wall separating the counter space from the kitchen. I was so distracted by it.The price is suitable for the area but it's a little pricey nonetheless. I got the fried catfish dinner with 2 sides which was $26. you have a choice of 1 or 2 sides and it comes with a slice of cornbread. The fried catfish was lightly breaded which I loved but it was just a tad bit too salty for me. The Mac & cheese & sweet potatoes were also yummy but I didn't care too much for the collard greens. They were seasoned nicely but a little too rough & chewy for me. Tasted almost like collard greens in the can. They wrapped up the container in plastic wrap to avoid any spillage and gave me an abundant amount of condiments. Overall the food was pretty good. I would definitely stop by again.Ig:Thefunfluencer
December 17 · Tanesha JenkinsFirst off, this restaurant has great customer service and the young ladies in the front are extremely kind and friendly. Secondly, I am a foodie from the south, so I know good southern comfort food when I taste it. Honestly, the food at the this location is not very good. We ordered fried chicken wings, macaroni and cheese, green beans and collard greens. The fried chicken was over cooked and fried too hard. I did not enjoy it at all because it was dry and prepared too well done. Almost to the point of a jerky chew consistency. Also, the cook cut the wings up and served the drum and flat portions when the menu stated whole chicken wings. The macaroni and cheese was dry and my green beans were limp and overcooked as well. I prefer the original Harlem location and learned after reading other reviews the downtown location is primarily for “to-go” orders. Nonetheless the food should be consistent with the original location in which it is not. Especially for the pricey menu, which I left feeling like I wasted money on food I could not eat nor did I enjoy.
