When you visit Baodega 小杨生煎, you are stepping into a world of rich, authentic Chinese flavors that are carefully curated to deliver an unforgettable dining experience. While the menu offers a vast selection, certain dishes stand out as absolute must-tries that truly define the restaurant's culinary identity. The undisputed star of the show is the Traditional Shanghai Pan Fried Soup Dumplings (小杨生煎). These aren't your typical soup dumplings; they are pan-fried to achieve a perfectly crispy, golden-brown bottom while retaining a tender, juicy interior filled with flavorful broth. It’s a textural and taste sensation that showcases the restaurant's expertise and commitment to this classic dish.
Beyond their signature dumplings, the menu is a treasure trove of authentic Shanghainese and Szechuan dishes. For those who enjoy a bit of spice and depth, the Dry Pot Farm House Chicken and the Dry Pot Fish are excellent choices. These dishes are cooked in a traditional style that locks in flavor and aroma, offering a comforting and complex taste. If you're a fan of rich, savory flavors, the Ground MA Braise (Pork), also known as 红烧肉 (Hóngshāo ròu), is a classic that melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with a bowl of steamed rice. For a lighter yet equally flavorful option, the Home Style Crystal Shrimp is a delicate and fresh choice that highlights the quality of the ingredients.
Baodega is also known for its extensive dim sum and noodle selections. The Grandma's Pork Soup Dumplings and the Crab Roe And Pork Soup Dumplings are excellent alternatives to the pan-fried variety, offering a burst of savory soup with every bite. The Beef & Cucumbers With Spicy Sauce from the cold dish section is a refreshing and zesty appetizer that perfectly balances out richer dishes. For a quick and hearty meal, their lunch specials, like the General Tso's Chicken Over Rice or Ma Po Tofu Over Rice, are generous, flavorful, and a great value. The variety on the menu ensures that there's something for every palate, whether you're a first-timer eager to try the famous pan-fried dumplings or a returning customer looking to explore new flavors.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I guess my expectations were too high! I expected to eag the very best dumplings ever… I ordered a crispy one - which I thought was crispy from frypaning it but it was actually deep fried, and too oily so I didn’t even finish it - and the grandma’s soup dumplings - which don’t get me wrong, they were good, but just not wow as in my opinion they should have been and it is suppose to be the main dishes in the restaurant!
June 09 · Nicole D.the mini peking duck buns were really good. crispy duck skin and tender meat. comes with a decent portion of meat.the shanghai pan fried soup dumplings had good flavor but weren’t really “soup dumplings ,” as they were totally dry inside. no soup at all.
July 23 · Genevieve DunnThe service is great but not busy either. Food was good mostly. Peking duck was amazing and get lots of duck. 10/10. The pork bun looked like it was lacking but taste was great. 8/10. The crab roe pork soup dumpling was 3/10. Taste wasn't great. Pork was hard. No soup. No ginger in the sauce. No hot oil.
March 08 · Hidemune KitanoStarted our meal with the Steamed shrimp crystal Dumplings which were tasty. The Hot pot pickled cabbage fish had a lovely garlic flavour it came out with the flame on and the dish was steaming till the end of our meal. The Hot pot fish was spicy and garlicky, very tasty and the fish was well cooked.
March 15 · nishka monteiroStopped by for lunch after spending the day at a nearby day spa. Ordered the sticky rice, chicken soup dumplings, Peking duck bao, and shrimp dumplings. While initially wifey was disappointed in the size of the shrimp dumplings and sticky rice, it worked that it was plenty of food. Everything was tasty. I really enjoyed the duck seeing as how I have not had it in a while. The chicken soup dumplings tasted great as well. Wifey enjoyed the shrimp dumplings and the sticky rice.Service was quick. We were seated right away and the place was not busy. Most likely would come back if in the area again.
