★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We were looking for somewhere for pancakes for breakfast and came across Breakfast by Salt’s Cure. A lot of the reviews said they had to wait a long time to get seated but we walked right in on a Tuesday morning at 9am.You order at the counter and then sit down. We both ordered The Classic which is 2 OG griddle cakes, 2 sausage patties of your choice and then 2 eggs in the style of your choice.I’d never had a pancake like this but it was absolutely delicious and so light! They had some sort of cinnamon sugar on them which was just the right amount. We both opted for the chicken sausage which was tasty - however the shape was quite foreign to us as Scottish people 😆We had a lovely leisurely breakfast here sitting and enjoying the February sun and reading our books after our breakfast. The breakfast was so reasonably priced compared to a lot of other places we went too. Have recommended to a few people who are visiting New York soon.
May 15 · Lily JohnstonJaw drop. I love the concept of this place. It’s simple food no frills but served exceptionally well. I came on a Sunday around 11 with two friends we waited about an hour to get a table. Worth noting the great service at the counter and with the wait staff. The food came quickly and fresh and was just so so yummy. We all tried different pancakes and to me the OG was the winner with banana walnut as a close second. Eggs and sausage also perfect. For everyone that is debating waiting in line for pancakes, just follow your heart it’s not that complicated
March 23 · Sachi TejaniNo syrup! My friend and I decided to check out Breakfast by Salt's Cure around 12:30pm on a Wednesday. The concept of an oatmeal griddle cake was new to me, so I don't have a point of reference to compare. You order and pay at the cashier, then find a table to sit at. There were no check-ins or water refills, so it's not necessary to leave a 20% tip.I asked the cashier for recommendations, and he said he would recommend the OG because it's the original, or the blueberry, his personal favorite. Since I had never tried a griddle cake before, I thought I should stick to the OG ($10). My friend got the banana nut ($14). I thought the prices were very reasonable for the griddle cakes. However, I would HIGHLY recommend getting something with flavor in it. The OG is served with cinnamon molasses butter, but the portion of butter was tiny, and it was overall very flavorless. This is worsened by the fact there is no syrup. I tried my friend's banana nut, and it was worlds better than the OG. My friend does caution that it is a lot of sweetness, but that's not something that bothers me.I would come back to Breakfast by Salt's Cure to try the flavored griddle cakes on an empty stomach and update my review accordingly.
April 27 · Ashlyn KogaThis place doesn’t have a reservation or a waitlist system so joining the long queue is your only option, especially on weekends. Decided to visit this place on a rainy Sunday anticipating less crowd, however, it turned out many people had the same idea and we had to wait 40 mins (a bargain vs the 60+mins wait normally). You order and pay at the counter and head to the table. The menu is short and amazing! The oatmeal griddle cake (pancakeish but no syrup ) lived up to the expectation!! It was delicious and I never had something like this before. It’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Went for the Banana Nut and loved every bite!Recommended 10/10
June 22 · malhar kulkarniThis is hands-down the best pancake I’ve had in New York. It reminds me of the homemade pancakes my mom used to make when I was little - so nostalgic and comforting. The service was 100/100 too. Even though we arrived close to 3 PM (their closing time), the staff was incredibly friendly and never made us feel rushed. Highly recommend!
