★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Lovely restaurant with amazing food, decor and service. We were lucky to come on a quieter day when most locals and tourists were out of town it seems. It was amazing time to celebrate our anniversary together here with the staff who catered to every need. The food was so delicious and beautifully displayed on plate and there is the beauty of simplicity in that the menu is not too big and focused on few items prepared so well. The dessert and cocktails are so delicious and again so beautifully displayed. We loved the duck tortellini, pea caramel, chicken dishes. The bread and butter was so tasty as well!! The hotel is beautiful I must say as is the restaurant where it is housed. So classic like you are in Italy! We have been twice and will go back.
July 13 · Akshay SinhaI don’t go out of my way to give raving reviews but this restaurant deserves it! Celebrated birthday here, the best, caring, kind and upscale service , from the front desk to the nice waiters and servers throughout - may I say truly great service is hard to find these days? They made sure we have very good seating and a very celebratory experience throughout. The appetizers oyster and tuna were so good, uni was fresh and sweet, and the dessert was very very very good. 100/100 will come back again, this visit truly makes me happy
August 23 · ACFrom the moment we arrived, the hostesses greeted us warmly and set the tone for a wonderful evening. We were seated quickly and enjoyed ordering some of their special cocktails, which were excellent. We celebrated a birthday later that evening, and the sommelier and our waiter were incredibly knowledgeable, walking us through the menu and guiding our choices perfectly.Café Carmellini has consistently provided an outstanding experience. I’ve been many times and always love it. The service, attention to detail, and inviting atmosphere make it the perfect spot for special occasions. I definitely recommend it!
August 26 · Ahmet FitchGorgeous spot, perfect for celebrating special occasions or just feeling like a sexy, dress up kind of evening. The ambiance is very intimate, upscale, and elegant, yet also a little quirky and storybook like. The high ceilings, and greenery throughout the establishment give the restaurant a nice airy feel. The open kitchen with the blue tiles are a fun and unique touch. The place itself is huge, And a walk to the bathrooms will bring you to the back super intimate posh corner restaurant bar. The hallway leading up to the bathroom has unique bright wallpaper and showcases multiple picture frames with eyes staring out at you, which is rather unique and fun.The staff was incredible. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, receptive, and kind. We were also given outstanding recommendations for the food and wine, and they made sure to answer all of our questions and speak about the menu in great detail. She asked what our timeline was like, and since we did not have plans for hours, we utilized that time to relax and let them bring out the plates accordingly. Not long after we were seated, we were given some warm bread accompanied by whipped sea salt butter and olive oil, and bread sticks. The menu does change seasonally, of course, and since we arrived in summer, lots of citrus, corn, vegetarian, and fish options. We started with some light and refreshing options including zucchini blossoms and the Caprino & Tomato tart. For dinner, we split the chicken gran sasso for two, which was a rather large dish! As you might expect, the chicken was raised locally up in NY state and was cooked to perfection. Roasted potatoes also accompanied this dish.Although we did not order dessert, they did leave us with some shortbread lemon cooked, and these summer 'popsicles' which were super fun. The cocktails and wine were also incredible.
August 19 · Shannon WhelanLocated inside Fifth Avenue Hotel, the Cafe Carmellini was a great Midtown find. We had an opportunity to visit Café Carmellini for lunch and dinner. While we enjoyed both, the dinner was our favorite experience. Overall, Carmellini is a fabulous choice for fine dining in Manhattan. The dishes are expertly crafted with great flavors and attention to detail. During both visits the service was very attentive and the restaurant decor had a sumptuous atmosphere.July Dinner: We started with a Snap Pea & Almond Tart and Quail & Apricot. The tart was summerly with a zip and tanginess paired with crunchy hazelnuts, crumbly tart shell and fresh peas. I loved it and given that the rest of our dishes were more on a traditional, French side, this was wonderfully different. The qual was expertly prepared, moist and delicious, sitting on a bed of black lentils and apricot sauce. The only thing we were missing was a spoon for the wonderful sauce. For the main course we had Squab en Croute and Roasted Veal ai Fungi. The reason we went to the Café for dinner was to try the Squab en Croute. It did not disappoint. Where do I start…the cherry sauce with pieces of red cherries was topped by a thin pastry crust filled with squab and foie gras. Every bite was delicious. The Roasted Veal ai Fungi was equally wonderful. The meat was tender, flavorful and expertly prepared. The mushrooms were stuffed with foie gras and the dish was pulled together by rich red sauce. Satisfying and a little rich without being overwhelming, both the Squab and the Veal were standout dishes. We finished our meal on a bright note, with Strawberry Chartreuse and Fromage Blanc tart (that was not a tart). The tart is crustless, with fromage forming the base of this wonderfully summary dessert and covered by super sweet slices of strawberries (like flower petals). And on top is the Strawberry Chartreuse ice cream. Refreshing and light this was a real summer dessert where every ingredient shined. And we received an unexpected treat from the Cafe: complementary raspberry and white chocolate pops, wonderfully tart and sweet as well as scrumptious sable cookies. This was a delightful surprise and both desserts underscored the skills of the pastry chef.June Lunch:The crab Mille Feuille was an interesting take on a Napoleon. We found the lemon sauce to be overpowering; although it gets a bit milder once you mix in the sweat crab, it was still very strong for our taste. The Spring Pea Caramelle were delicious pasta bundles filled with goat cheese, topped with peas and bacon bits. The Sasso Chicken and Beef Filet were both excellent with tender meat and wonderful potato sides. The finale, a Chocolate Ganache Tart was light, creamy and crunchy. It was a perfect finish to our meal.
