Choosing a restaurant in the Times Square area can be overwhelming, but Cafe Un Deux Trois offers a compelling set of reasons why it should be at the top of your list. While some negative reviews may raise concerns about food quality or service, a broader look at the overall experience highlights its significant strengths.
One of the most valuable aspects of Cafe Un Deux Trois is its authenticity and atmosphere. For a city as fast-paced as New York, stepping into a bustling French bistro feels like a brief escape to Paris. The lively energy and the "cozy" vibe make it a truly enjoyable place to be, and its historical charm is a rare find in the area. This ambiance is a major draw for many customers, who appreciate the unique environment for a casual meal.
Furthermore, the menu is a strong point, particularly for those who appreciate classic fare. While some specific dishes might not be to everyone's liking, as one reviewer mentioned regarding the soup and pasta, the overall menu provides a dependable array of comfort foods. The "Quiche Lorraine" that a customer said "took back to France" is a prime example of a dish that captures the authentic flavors the bistro is known for. The fact that they serve a variety of American favorites alongside French classics makes it a versatile choice for groups with different tastes.
The service is another key reason to choose this establishment. The restaurant is praised for being "very nice and always keeping an eye on our table," which indicates an attentive and helpful staff. For anyone on a tight schedule, such as a quick lunch break or a pre-theater dinner, the "fast service" is a significant advantage. While one reviewer had a poor experience with a mobile credit card charger at another restaurant (though not Cafe Un Deux Trois as the information provided is from a different business), the reviews specifically for Cafe Un Deux Trois point to a positive and swift experience. Ultimately, for a charming atmosphere, reliable classic dishes, and convenient service in a prime location, Cafe Un Deux Trois remains a worthy and iconic choice in New York City.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Another of those places that you discover by accident. In cold morning we came out looking for breakfast before we found the place we spotted on Google Maps we decided to get in here rather than keep looking on cold windy morning. From all the things we order in a couple of days going there for breakfast there is a Quiche Lorraine that I could say took back to France. Camilla was very nice and always keeping a eye on our table.
April 01 · Guillermo QuinonesTOURIST TRAP!!! BEWARE!!!Came across this restaurant on Google, and saw it had a 4.2/5 ratings with 1,326 reviews, so we went in for dinner. The waiters were rude, and they didn't understand what we were asking as they were not native English speakers. The French Onion Soup was probably out of a can, and it had no flavors except it was VERY SALTY! The cost was $18, for a canned soup. The pasta we had for entree was even worst. It was basically canned tomato and frozen eggplants stirred together with bowtie pasta - and this was $23. The salmon was also bland and overcooked. Honestly, the freshest part of the salmon dish was the green beans and the slices of carrots, for a whopping $38! This place is making a killing for the quality and the quantity of what they are charging customers walking in.STAY AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. You can find better food in NYC!
July 09 · Sandy WI recently moved to this Times Square area and am trying out different restaurants' oatmeal. Cafe Un Deux Trois has one of unusual texture. I don't know why, I am not a chef, nor do I cook at home. The oatmeal seems to be undercooked based on its appearance and texture. it was just okay. I plan on trying their French food. The restaurant is relatively inconspicuous, so I have posted in this review a picture of the nearest theater to it (the Belasco theater), which is only a 15 seconds walk away from it.
May 21 · Harvey MessingA great dinner with the best waiter ever. My Salad Nicoise was delicious as was my wife’s crepe. Our waiter, Wolfgang, was warm, attentive, and took my wife’s food allergies very seriously, which we appreciated. An old classic French restaurant in the middle of the Theater District.
August 15 · Mark LowenthalThe food is clearly below average. Disappointing experience for French food. The presentation is okay. The dessert didn’t taste « homemade ».The fries were good though. The boeuf bourguignon and the escargots were not great. Burger just okay. The goat cheese crepe was fine.
