What is worth choosing?
What makes Cello's Pizzeria a truly worthwhile choice is its commitment to creating a superior slice that’s both authentic and exciting. The pizza is the main event here, with a focus on a crisp, well-structured crust and quality toppings. The Regular Pie and Pepperoni Pie are excellent choices for a classic experience, delivering on all the fundamental elements of a great New York slice. However, it's the more unique offerings that really showcase Cello's potential. The Vodka Pie, with its rich and savory sauce, is a fan favorite, and the Tomato Burrata Pie offers a creamy, fresh contrast that elevates the traditional tomato pie. For those who like a little heat, the Pepperoni + Jalapeño Pie is a perfect balance of savory and spicy. The Broccoli Rabe + Sausage Pie is another standout, offering a delicious combination of flavors. The restaurant’s quick service means you can get a hot, fresh slice without the long wait often found at other popular pizzerias. This makes it an ideal spot for a quick lunch or a fast dinner on the way to a show or night out. The option for outdoor seating is a huge plus, allowing you to enjoy your meal while taking in the iconic street life of St Marks Place. The beverages, including Mexican Coke and Topo Chico, are a nice touch, offering a different selection from the usual soda fountain drinks. While some have experienced reheated slices, the overall quality and the potential for a fresh, hot pie make it a place you should definitely try. The fact that the pizzamaker has a background from L’Industrie Pizzeria is a significant indicator of the quality you can expect. It's the kind of place that’s gaining a reputation for a reason: it simply makes a very good pizza. For locals and tourists alike, Cello's Pizzeria provides a solid, dependable, and delicious option that holds its own in one of the most competitive food scenes in the world. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I walked in here on a seasonal warm sunny day in mid July to try a slice. There were less than a dozen people in the restaurant either ordering, waiting for pizza, or dining. I was able to order without waiting. I waited about 4 minutes for them reheat my pizza.I generally do not like reheated pizza and I was kind of surprised they had reheat it given the seemingly quick flow of people coming through. This pizza tasted like over cooked pizza with fresh parm on top. It was fine but I don’t like crunchy dough or crust.I likely would not come back to this pizza place, but I wouldn’t discourage others from trying.
July 24 · David JosephPizza here is crisp and flavorful. A plain slice is $4. Opened last November by James who had worked at the stellar L’Industrie Pizzeria, this is a pizzeria on St. Marks Place that one should always enter. There are tables and chairs and a unisex restroom. Service is professional and regulars are recognized. Follow their link on Instagram because sometimes Milan makes a pizza topped with green chutney that is from Indian cuisine. It will be tasty.
April 17 · Sabena SinghSince my partner became a regular at Cello’s Pizzeria, it’s become more than just a pizza spot—it’s a daily ritual filled with friendly faces and fantastic food. The staff always greet him with smiles and small talk, making the place feel like a second home. Their kindness and welcoming nature truly set them apart. But let’s talk about the pizza—crispy, flavorful slices that stand out in a city full of options. Each bite offers a unique blend of tastes that keep us coming back for more. I’ve grown to love their pizza just as much as he does.Cello’s isn’t just about great food; it’s about the people who make every visit special. It’s a place where quality meets community, and that combination is truly irresistible.
April 13 · ZelayaGreat service. Nice clean space. I had the Margherita Slice. Nice crispy bottom with some char on the crust, very well balanced. They also sell beer which went perfectly with the Slice. I would definitely return
July 10 · Vivianne BarrettoCello’s is a great spot! We were visiting, and my brother-in-law, who lives in the neighborhood, took us there saying it was one of the best and surprise!..it really was. It’s a small place with just two people working, but the pizza is amazing. The crust was perfectly cooked with great texture and flavor. The vodka slice was my favorite so tasty! The vibe is retro and casual, everything feels simple and honest, just really good pizza. It was a great recommendation and definitely didn’t disappoint.
