★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 17.6/10The yellowtail crudo and crab cake actually had a flavor that reminded me a lot of Chinese food. The crab cake, in particular, was pretty unique: coated with shredded potato and deep-fried for a crispy texture. The sauce seemed to have pistachio in it, adding this nice nutty aroma. The steak was fairly standard but generous in portion. For dessert, we tried their signature baked Alaska, which had a sharp tang in the sour parts and was overly sweet in the sweet parts, plus the banana in it wasn’t to my taste. We also had the chocolate cake with ice cream, which had a rich dark chocolate coating and layered beautifully. But it became cloyingly sweet toward the end. The service was friendly, and the place is huge. You can totally feel the charm of a restaurant that’s been around for 200 years.
August 15 · Ruit LTouted as the oldest fine dining experience in America (1837) it is truly a model for all others to follow. Oh my goodness, what a dining experience we had! I spend a lot of time in New York, coming from Alaska about 6 times a year for ballgames, concerts and other events. This was our first time at Delmonico’s and it will certainly not be our last. We were celebrating our 33rd anniversary. We were greeted on the front steps of the restaurant and escorted inside. One moment to check that our table was ready and we were taken back to our own private dining experience in the JP Morgan boardroom. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left we were showered with attention by a countless number of staff. We are just normal folk, but they made us feel like royalty and their newest found friends. The food, drinks and desserts were certainly the best we ever had. The presentation was marvelous and the ambience was perfect. They truly care about their guests. I’ll be sure to make a reservation every time I’m in town from now on.
June 27 · John CampbellFood was really great and I also liked the excellent service very much! I particularly loved the attention to details and how beautifully arranged the plates were (I attached some pics). Everything was absolutely perfect. The only thing I didn't like was that they gave us a table in a separate room where the bar is (right next to the bar) and it was extremely loud. I wish they put us in the main room, more elegant and beautiful.Other than that, everything was really perfect! We will go there again for sure!!
August 27 · SaraGreat restaurant tucked away in a corner off Wall Street. Very old world, prohibition era charm and class. The staff was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious. I was recommended this place due to a missed flight and it did not disappoint. My steak, asparagus and crab cakes were cooked to perfection. The steak wasn’t over seasoned and the sauce was on the side to enhance the flavor not smother or hide it. I will definitely return and have to bring back my steak snob husband.
June 29 · FarEastFurqansThis restaurant is right next to where I live super convenient. I came with work once and decided to take my family here (it's their first time in NY). It was the hottest day in NY 100f and we forgot about the dress code (pants) but they were super nice about it and let us sit without going back to get changed. The service was super great here. Our server was very nice and made sure our water cups were always filled and paid very close attention to how we wanted to order (since we had 6 ppl and wanted to share some of the food we got)The Delmonico steak my brother ordered medium rare was overcooked (compared to the same medium rare Delmonico my husband got). Our server immediate took it back to the kitchen and took it off our bill (since we didn't want a new one). That's the only complain I had but they resolved it well.Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you want a good steak. The portions were big so sharing one between two people is good. All the side dishes were delicious as well. The crab cake and baked Alaska is a must try
