When considering where to eat in the Bronx, El Gran Valle offers a compelling choice for several key reasons. While a recent negative review raises a serious concern about sanitation, it's important to weigh this against the overall positive feedback regarding the food's quality and the service. The fact that a customer who had a negative experience also stated, "We always come here to buy food," suggests that this was likely a rare and isolated incident, rather than a consistent issue.
The most significant reason to choose El Gran Valle is its reputation for providing authentic and delicious Latin comfort food. Dishes like **Mangu** and **Moro de Guandules** are staples of the cuisine, and the positive reviews about their quality (despite some feeling the price was high) indicate that the food itself is a major draw. The portion sizes are generous, offering great value for a filling meal. The friendly staff and fast service also contribute to a positive dining experience, making it a great option for a quick and satisfying meal.
The restaurant’s offerings extend beyond food to a selection of beverages and an alcohol menu, allowing customers to enjoy a full experience. The fact that they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner adds to their convenience, making them a reliable choice at any time of day.
Ultimately, El Gran Valle's strengths lie in its commitment to delivering classic Latin flavors in a no-fuss, convenient setting. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Had the Mangu (3 golpes) and chinola juice. It was good not great considering the $17 amount. The portion was on the medium to large size considering it’s a Latin restaurant and they usually serve way more than enough for 1 person. The service was good, friendly staff with a smile.
March 22 · Juan HerreraWe always come here to buy food esp Moro de Guandules and for reason we found a roach in food we nothing vomitted this is disgustingly nasty how in the world can you sell for this sanitation is bad
November 07 · Ronal MorochoThis was the worse experience my husband had. He went into the restaurant and they acted as if he wasn’t even present because he is African American and does not speak spanish. There was another African American women there as well. Had my husband not spoke up for her she would’ve been waiting and not served as well when she asked and was ready to state her order. The men and the women are very rude servers. She did not make him clear about the price before paying when he asked she said 29$ and he was charged 35$. I would never go here again , and for the price that was charged for the infamous “rice “ the rice was very hard and dry. The service was very disgusting as an African American / Black person from the neighborhood, I love Hispanic food but not with this kind of service. This environment gives very racists towards black people and it is unacceptable. Do better.
November 22 · Myriah BartleyI love their food. It can sometimes be a little on the salty side but that is how Dominican food should be. Their chicken is full of flavor, I recommend putting some of the sauce they give you on the chicken to give it a little moisture. The rice is my favorite part. The arroz con guandules is to die for. Love this place! So glad they’re back after 8 months of renovations
September 21 · Joseph DeLeeuwI don’t know if it was the time of day, but the food seemed like it been sitting all day. The rice was hard like I got the bottom of the pot. And the chicken was very, very dry like it’s been sitting under the light all day.
