Frying Pan NYC Introduce
If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind dining experience in New York City that combines incredible views with classic American comfort food, look no further than Frying Pan NYC. This isn't your typical restaurant—it's a historic, red-painted lightship turned into a lively bar and grill, docked at Pier 66 in Chelsea. More than just a place to eat, it's a destination that captures the essence of a perfect day or night out on the water. With its relaxed, welcoming vibe and delicious menu, Frying Pan NYC offers a refreshing escape from the city hustle, making it a must-visit spot for locals and visitors alike.
The Frying Pan has a rich history. Originally a lightship built in 1929, it served as a floating lighthouse before being retired and eventually restored to its current glory. The name "Frying Pan" comes from the Frying Pan Shoals off the coast of North Carolina, where the ship was stationed for many years. Today, it’s a living piece of maritime history and a beloved fixture of the New York waterfront, providing a unique backdrop for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Whether you're craving fresh seafood, a hearty burger, or just a great cocktail with a view, this unique restaurant delivers an experience that is both memorable and authentically New York.
While the atmosphere is casual, the food is taken seriously. The menu is a thoughtful collection of American favorites with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients. You'll find everything from classic lobster rolls to perfectly grilled steaks and delicious vegetarian options. It’s a place where you can bring your family for a fun meal, catch up with friends over drinks, or enjoy a romantic evening as the sun sets over the Hudson River. The vibrant energy, coupled with the historic setting, makes every visit feel special and truly memorable.
Frying Pan NYC is uniquely situated on a historic ship docked at Pier 66 Maritime at Hudson River Park. You can find this iconic red boat at 207 12th Avenue, New York, NY 10001. Its location in the Chelsea neighborhood makes it a convenient spot to reach from many parts of the city. Being a waterfront venue, the views are an integral part of the experience, offering stunning vistas of the Hudson River and the New Jersey skyline.
Getting to Frying Pan NYC is straightforward. It's easily accessible by public transportation, with several subway lines and bus routes stopping within a reasonable walking distance. The nearest subway stations are a pleasant walk away, allowing you to enjoy the Chelsea neighborhood on your way. For those driving, paid parking garages are available in the vicinity, but be prepared to plan ahead, as parking can be limited and pricey in this area.
Because the restaurant is on a boat, it's worth noting the unique accessibility. While the experience is generally smooth, it's important to be aware that the boat may have a slight sway, which is part of its authentic charm. This unique setting makes for a truly memorable experience, but it may be a factor for anyone prone to motion sickness. The staff is always accommodating and friendly, ensuring that all guests feel welcome and comfortable as they enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and scenery.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Everything about this place took my breath away! My friend and I made it just under the wire, and yet the staff were so lovely and accommodating so close to closing time. The atmosphere is what captured my heart. A gem on the water, good music, good vibes. Ah, and their tacos were easily some of the best I've had in a long while. All in all, an incredible experience! Will definitely be back soon and will be sure to upload more pictures :)
June 04 · Jessica Firma-PazMy friend and I gave this place a shot. We were looking for a nice outdoors area due to amazing weather outside. So if you are looking for a cool spot with stunning views, this is a right place, just be aware that you are technically on a boat and can get a seasick. On the other hand the service and food. I got my satisfaction from the food, but my opinion, too greasy. The same with service, it was just okay, but def could be quicker and better when only 3rd party of all tables is occupied. I recommend this place to visit at least once, visiting it another time - up to you.
July 02 · Kirill Kobelev`Absolutely incredible experience! Waterfront view, no reservation needed, $10 cocktails on Friday 8-10.Service isn't the most forthcoming, and a word of caution that the restaurant sways a bit because (obviously) it's on the water. But, overall, one of the best bar experiences I've had here in the city!
July 12 · Lily ClarkI love this place — the view is beautiful, I could stay there all day. The staff are super friendly, starting with the person who greets you at the entrance. The mezcal pitcher seems a bit pricey, but it’s worth it for the experience. The burger was tasty, but I can’t say the same about the fried calamari — it had no flavor at all, not even salt. No matter how much sauce or salt I added, it still tasted like nothing, and the texture was really chewy. I wouldn’t recommend the calamari to anyone, but I would definitely recommend spending an entire afternoon there hanging out with friends.
May 20 · juliana escobarWonderful breeze and view by the water perfect for a summer day. Light beer my fave good drinks. Food accomplishes the objective burger ok and fish tacos. Next time might go for the fish and chips. Fries where perfect.
