★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our time at this restaurant/ club was the highlight of our visit to NYC. We felt very welcomed by both staff members as well as other guests, mostly locals. The food was excellent. We had the giant shrimp platter and plantain. The salsa class was fun and the music was fantastic, especially the live band. We hadn't danced like we did in ages! This place will definitely remain on our itinerary whenever we are in NYC.
June 27 · JJ BI went to González y González and I really liked it! I give the vibes a 10 out of 10! The DJ was great, there were a lot of people, and you can dance all night! 🎶💃 The cover is $20 and you need to bring cash.I really loved the guacamole! 🥑 It was super fresh and they make it right at your table. That was so cool and different! I also tried a beer (I forgot the name 😅), but it was really good. They have nice beers there! The only things I didn’t like much were the drinks. My margarita tasted too artificial. I expected more. And the churros, I give them like a 3 out of 10. Not the best. The prices were not cheap, not expensive — just normal. But the atmosphere was amazing. I had so much fun! I want to go again! 💖
June 20 · Daniela Jimenez RomeroAfter calling to inquire about their Groupon, I spoke with Stephanie, who was truly a delight! Her energy was EVERYTHING—warm, welcoming, and instantly got us excited for our visit. As a lifelong New Yorker, of course I knew of Gonzalez y Gonzalez, but it had been at least a decade since my last visit. Safe to say, this experience was a great reintroduction. The Groupon was a fantastic deal, including a shared appetizer, two entrées each, one dessert, and four drinks—definitely bang for our buck! We started with the Mezcal Mussels, which came in a flavorful sauce with toasted bread (we immediately wanted more!). For entrées, we had the Chicken Chimichanga and Chuletas Al Pastor, both solid choices. And the churros? Unexpectedly AMAZING! Crispy, warm, and perfectly dusted with cinnamon sugar. For drinks, I had the Spicy Jalapeño Margarita, while my partner went for the Mango Margarita—both hit the spot.As self-proclaimed foodies, while this wasn’t the best Mexican food we’ve ever had, it was undeniably a solid choice for good eats, great value, and an even better vibe. The service was top-notch, with multiple staff members checking in on us from the moment we walked in. Our server, Carlos, was friendly, attentive, and had great recommendations, which really set the tone for a wonderful night. We left just before the salsa dancing started, but it’s clearly a longstanding tradition and looks like a fun time—whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just there to enjoy the energy.Overall, Gonzalez y Gonzalez delivers neighborhood vibes, solid food, and a memorable night out. We’d absolutely return (maybe for brunch next?!)—and you should too!
March 31 · Zakkiyya ReeceHaving lived near a sizable Mexican community in Homestead, Florida, I can say that we are accustomed to authentic cuisine. The restaurant's ambiance is quite pleasant, and I really appreciate the location. It is relatively small and compact, which can give the impression of being more crowded than it actually is. We opted for some traditional Mexican dishes based on the patrons present, and while the flavors were quite good, they didn't fully match what we're used to. Nevertheless, we would recommend this place, so be sure to come by for an enjoyable atmosphere.
December 27 · Marco EspinozaThe food was nice, the guacamole is freshly made and reasonably priced. The other food, like the chorizo tacos and churros, were ok. I didn’t try any fancy drinks, so I can’t comment there. A few drinks, an entree and a dessert would run you about 150 — this place is not cheap. Also, for your bday, the dessert is not free.My low review is due mostly to the atmosphere. I would say that if you’re a man, it is a very aggressive space for you. Bouncers/security will be aggressive by default — for example, my partner did not know (because he wasn’t told by the bouncer, bartender, or any staff) that he had to check his coat. A security guard said, after we had been seated on our table for an hour, that if he doesn’t check in his coat he will be kicked out. That was his first interaction with my partner — no “hey we have a policy” or anything of the sort.I thought this was incredibly rude and would have left if it wasn’t for a birthday I was attending. A similar interaction happened to another person in our party who had a bag with them. I didn’t have any sort of conflict, but I did have a bag. Also, I love a dress code, but you can be kind about it.The dance floor was also incredibly crowded — too crowded if you wanted to dance salsa or bachata. It was almost like an EDM/rave with how crowded and sweaty everyone was. This is also nitpicky, but the he DJ on 8/26 was mixing strangely, like they threw in a random Kendrick track? Between random Caribbean tracks and Romeo Santos? Like I guess…Lastly, and most importantly imo, the water is not free. It’s 3 dollars for a bottle and when you ask for tap, they say they don’t do that. With a 20$ cover charge, that is bonkers.I wouldn’t come here again — I’ll stay in the BX.
