When you approach the Halal Food Cart, the most important choice you'll make is what to order from its concise but powerful menu. While the entire menu is built on satisfying, classic dishes, a few items stand out as local favorites, as highlighted by numerous positive reviews.
The undisputed star of the menu is the "over rice" platter. The most popular versions are the Lamb Over Rice and the Chicken Over Rice, with many customers opting for the "awesome mix rice," a combination of the two. This dish is the quintessential Halal street food experience: a bed of flavorful, perfectly cooked rice topped with your choice of tender, well-seasoned meat, served alongside a fresh salad of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The magic, of course, comes from the sauces—a generous drizzle of the creamy white sauce and a dash of the spicy red sauce, both of which elevate the dish to a new level of deliciousness. The lamb is described as "flavorful and hearty," while the chicken is noted for being tender and packed with flavor, making the combination platter a fantastic way to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Another top choice is the Chicken Gyro. For those who prefer their meat in a sandwich form, this is the perfect option. The gyro is stuffed with tender, marinated chicken and fresh veggies, all wrapped in a warm pita. The combination of textures and flavors makes it an easy, handheld meal that is just as satisfying as a platter. The simplicity of the ingredients and the careful preparation are what make it a consistently popular choice.
The cart also offers a variety of other small plates and quick bites that are great for a light meal or to share. The essence of the cart's appeal, however, lies in its ability to take simple, classic dishes and execute them with consistency and quality. The focus isn't on fancy or complex cooking; it's on providing a reliable, tasty, and filling meal. For a true taste of a New York classic that is beloved by locals and tourists alike, you can't go wrong with either a platter or a gyro from this Halal Food Cart.

Plus, the generous portions ensure that you'll leave feeling satisfied without breaking the bank.Sure, it may not be the fanciest dining experience, but when you're in need of a tasty and convenient meal, the Halal Food Cart delivers every time. Next time you find yourself getting off the train late, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some delicious street food.
February 14 · Everette HamletteI recently suggested this place be added onto google maps because there’s no indication of food carts and these people should have a chance to be known especially when the food is good. I go to this cart a lot for the day that I have closing shifts and it’s 2am and I’m hungry. One of the guys is really nice and if you make pleasant conversation he just might slip you a piece of lamb to munch on while he works. Chicken over rice is really good with the pita bread ! Less than $8 next time I go I’ll post pictures
June 22 · Victoria SpauldingAte here about 3+x alone or with a friend and every time the food is bland. I've never been a critic I get it that some days wont be the best so if it's not horrible I give places a 2nd chance but yea it's never been seasoned well. Its disappointing
