★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My boyfriend and I are foodies who would drive anywhere to try different restaurants in Houston. And Hudson House River Oaks became our favorite!!! I always look for restaurants that offer clean flavors and delicious homemade meal styles, especially the balance of seasonings and textures. I normally cook and bake at home, and am picky about restaurants. We went there for a couple of lunches and Sunday brunch to avoid super busy hours. Every time, they have served wonderful meals! The atmosphere, service, and delicious fooooooooood, quite a perfect trinity! So far, my boyfriend had Steak Frites, Redfish, and Lobster Eggs Benedict. He said those are amazing! I had THE LOBSTER ROLL(sandwich), THE PANCAKES, JACK'S SALAD, rainbow roll (sushi roll). I Loved them! we also had their desserts, both key lime and chocolate mousse pies! Citrus flavor is not my favorite thing, BUT their lime mousse pie was so goooood!! It was well balanced! Some people complained about their prices, but it’s worth it if you want quality food rather than a huge portion!! $20-30 range is pretty decent for a wonderful meal. The most expensive was Steak Frites, around $50, but my boyfriend just said "wow" after a bite! Their brunch isn't expensive at all, and so delicious!! I don't have any complaints about their portions, and my boyfriend had no complaints either. We always enjoy their clean and balanced flavors, just the right amount of seasonings! Their French press coffee is enough for 2 people, and pretty good!! For parking, you can do valet or paid parking. I paid $2.50 for 2 hours, so I am fine with that!
August 18 · Su-Jin ChoReally loved the ambiance at lunch. At lot of women just go for the salads, nice selection and two desserts we chose from chocolate silk pie and key lime pie. Had the cheeseburger, you have to add on your fries. Good shoestring, not sure if worth $7, maybe $5. The burger was outstanding. The ahi-tuna salad needed more dressing, but tasted like a sunshine day with avocado and mango. The tuna makes that salad.
May 15 · Kat SpoffordHere’s a polished and structured version of your review—refined but still personal, perfect for your Local Guide contributions while offering a clear picture to future guests:⸻Stylish Spot with Great Food — A Few Small Fixes Would Make It Perfect⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 out of 5)Absolutely loved this little gem of a restaurant—it has a polished, modern vibe that reminded me of a cross between Federal Grill and the old Houston’s off Kirby. It’s cozy and upscale without being pretentious. The only downside is the paid parking, which is a bit inconvenient. Reservations are encouraged—not required—but if you don’t have one, expect a possible wait, especially during brunch or dinner hours. We started with the popcorn chicken, which was fantastic. The breading had the perfect crunch, and the nuggets were just the right size—not overly small. The variety of dipping sauces was a great touch.I had the breakfast sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. My only wish is that it came on a seedless brioche bun—the current bun was fine, but the seeds were distracting. The hollandaise sauce on the side was flavorful, though I felt it could’ve used a bit more acidity to brighten it up. I also wish the sandwich came with a side dish, like breakfast potatoes, to round out the plate. We sat at the bar, which was quite close-quartered. The bartending staff was friendly, but the space was busy and I had to flag someone down a couple of times for refills and clearing. A small thing, but I also would’ve appreciated it if the menus were removed after ordering—it’s a minor touch, but it makes a difference in the dining experience.Given the small footprint of the restaurant in this shopping strip, parties of four or more will definitely need a reservation. It’s intimate and well-designed, but space is limited.Final thoughts: The food and vibe are excellent, and despite a few service hiccups, I’m already looking forward to returning—especially to try dinner. A great addition to the area and definitely worth a visit.
July 25 · AshleyGreat place to visit eat and chill , walk in and wait at door to be seated unless you have reservations you'll go in right away . The ambiance is calm with some background music . The service is decent not really what I expected or waitress wasn't paying to much attention to our table we didn't have drinks for a few minutes feels as if as soon as we got our food she just disappeared cuz she didn't come check on us , usually at places like this waitresses come back a few times especially for drinks I feel service could have been better . The food was great the burged for $16 I wouldn't say it's worth it I'd recommend get the burger during happy hour 3-6pm for $10 and add some fries to it , one of the burgers was a little over salted didn't complain though didn't want to wait for another . The sushi was great the Mac and cheese damn yea no I wouldn't get that again the top was great but the bottom way to cheesy . The chicken with fries was great I recommend visit this place if you're in the area . Get the burger during happy hour and some sushi or another dish as an app . Overall it was good experience service could have just been a bit better .
March 13 · Juan MThe atmosphere was lovely and the drinks were great but unfortunately the food didn’t quite meet the usual standard my friends have experienced on previous visits. We came as a group of six and shared a selection of oysters and sushi including the best roll, crunchy shrimp roll and spicy tuna crispy rice, all of which were just okay and overpriced. I had the chicken parm, which was a generous portion and was good but the accompanying vodka pasta was overcooked and a bit mushy.
