KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar Introduce
KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar has established itself as a truly unique and exceptional sushi destination in New York City. Moving beyond the traditional sushi restaurant model, it offers a focused and refined experience centered around the art of the hand roll. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is designed to highlight the food itself—a minimalist and clean aesthetic with a long bar where every roll is made to order right in front of you. This commitment to freshness and quality is what sets KazuNori apart. The sound of a crisp snap from the seaweed, the warmth of the perfectly seasoned rice, and the melt-in-your-mouth fresh fish all combine to create an experience that is both simple and deeply satisfying. This is a place for sushi purists who appreciate the details that make a good meal great.
The philosophy of KazuNori is built around the concept of "just-made" hand rolls. Unlike traditional sushi, which is often prepared in advance, each hand roll at KazuNori is crafted and served one at a time to ensure that every ingredient—especially the crispy seaweed and warm rice—is at its absolute best. This deliberate, step-by-step service model is a highlight for many patrons, turning a simple meal into a memorable ritual. The menu, while concise, offers a masterful selection of hand rolls, including classic favorites like Salmon, Toro, and Yellowtail, as well as more unique options like Lobster and Bay Scallop. Beyond the hand rolls, the menu also includes a selection of cut rolls, sashimi, and convenient to-go sets, making it a versatile option for any occasion. The restaurant also offers late-night food, catering to the city's round-the-clock energy.
Located at 15 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001, KazuNori is situated in the NoMad neighborhood, a vibrant and trendy area that is easily accessible from multiple parts of the city. For those driving, there are paid parking garages and paid street parking options nearby. The restaurant is also committed to accessibility, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and restroom, ensuring that all guests can enjoy their dining experience comfortably. While there is often a wait, especially during peak hours, many reviews note that the line moves relatively quickly, a testament to the fast and efficient service.
The services offered at KazuNori cater to a variety of customer needs and preferences. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The sound of silence, minimalism and nobility of the bar are evident from the moment you step into the restaurant. The bar is long, clean, with gray colors that serve for only one purpose. making the sushi the star of the evening. I love the ritual of choosing the rolls with a piece of paper and a pencil.✏️ KazuNori's original hand roll was absolutely delicious, fresh and the rice is warm and seasoned, the seaweed had that crisp snap, knowing it was made fresh to order. I truly think that this is one of the best sushi 🍣 places in nyc. I’m allergic to sea 🌊 food 🥘😄 and I love their fresh tuna and salmon 🍣 The vibe of the restaurant is elegant, prestigious, excellent Japanese chill, with a very warm attentive staff. I highly recommend!
August 12 · Amos NachumExcellent hand roll sushi place with fantastic ambiance and service, despite being a no tip establishment. Very reasonably priced.Ankimo (daily special) and Ko Ika (squid) were especially enjoyable for this born-and-raised Japanese. They deliver one roll at a time so you can enjoy the freshly rolled. When we arrived, there were maybe 10 people ahead of us on Saturday around 3:45. The line moved relatively quickly so don’t let the line intimidate you.One way to tell the legitimacy of sushi roll is the quality of seaweed. It has to be crispy crunchy that you can easily bite with your teeth and doesn’t get bunched up in your mouth. This place delivered great!!
April 19 · Sarah F.It’s my little dream to visit the original hand-roll places in NYC where they inspire a lot of hand-roll places in Bangkok. KazuNori is one on the list. We chose this branch as we passed by. The queue is quite long for dinner. We waited for over 40 mins before we got seated.I didn’t go with the set but chose an individual hand-roll that interested me. My bf did ordered the set and definitely worth $$. The sushi rice is perfectly vinegared. Not too sour. Wasabi was already added for you so don’t make the mistake like I did. I love their yellowtail the most. But I think you can go whatever you like.Oh! And if you’re not big eater like I am, you can ask for small rice/less rice so you can enjoy every bites without being too stuffed.
August 22 · Mind ThamaratanasiriIt is a counter bar style, so ideally it’s good for those who eats alone or with another person. We were a group of three people and it was ok. The food was very delicious I ordered chef’s special for $37. You can order single roll or a set of 2,3,4,5, or6. The chef s special has 6 rolls. I was so full by the 3rd roll! The servers were very pleasant.
June 05 · Tiaranad GerjarusakThis was such a treat for my husband and me! The rolls were simple but each had its own unique flavor and soooo fresh. The service was impeccable and personable. We can't wait to go back the next time we are in NYC!
