What is worth choosing
For a New Yorker, the decision of where to eat is about more than just food; it's about the entire experience. Kimura is worth choosing for several key reasons that align perfectly with the city's fast-paced yet quality-conscious lifestyle. First and foremost, the authenticity of the food is a major draw. The menu, with its traditional teishoku sets like the Katsu Don and Saba Shioyaki, and its high-quality sashimi and sushi, reflects a genuine commitment to Japanese culinary standards. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients is a point of pride, as noted by a customer who praised the fresh, high-quality sashimi. This is crucial for anyone looking for true Japanese flavors rather than a watered-down version. The Japanese hot pots, like the Collagen Nabe and Dontaku Pork Belly Nabe for two, are also a fantastic and unique offering that makes for a perfect shared dining experience, as highlighted by a customer who tried both and found them to be "very tasty."
Secondly, the restaurant's atmosphere is a significant highlight. It strikes the perfect balance between trendy and cozy, making it suitable for a variety of occasions. Whether you’re on a date, dining with a group, or enjoying a meal on your own, the welcoming environment and friendly staff will make you feel at ease. The feedback about the staff being "very nice and welcoming" is a testament to the excellent service, which is a key component of a great dining experience in a city where service can sometimes be hit or miss. The fast service is another huge plus for busy New Yorkers, ensuring that a quick lunch or dinner doesn't feel rushed but is instead efficient and satisfying.
Finally, the sheer convenience and variety of services make Kimura an excellent choice. With options like outdoor seating, curbside pickup, and no-contact delivery, the restaurant caters to every possible dining preference. The menu itself is also incredibly versatile, offering everything from healthy options and small plates to late-night food. The fact that they take reservations is a thoughtful amenity that allows for stress-free planning, a highly valued service in a city where last-minute tables can be hard to come by. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I visited Kimura Japanese Restaurant in the East Village on my own and was seated at the bar near the window, which was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the meal. The staff were very nice and welcoming, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere.I ordered the grilled beef tongue—it was soft, tender, and full of flavor. The mixed sashimi was fresh and high-quality, just what you’d hope for. The only dish that didn’t quite hit the mark was the salmon salad, which had a slightly bitter taste, possibly from the dressing.Overall, it was a great experience, and I definitely recommend it!
July 20 · Victor GZMy son & girl friend treat me for BD. The food was so amazing. We tried two different two kinds of pots, both were very tasty! The Kimurs Benton was so delicious with all of varieties in rich flavors. We all loved the food we had. We truly appreciate the chef’s did an awesome job!
May 27 · Min-Yuan Wu (吳名媛)I went with a friend on a Sunday evening and we had a reservation. We were seated right away when we arrived. I got the pork belly nabe and it was delicious and flavorful! The chili sauce on the side (though not photographed) added the perfect—maybe a bit too much kick 🔥🔥🔥 to the broth, so I wouldn’t recommend overdoing it. Friendly and attentive service too. I can’t wait for a second visit!
August 04 · L YFood is good! The beef intestines are chewy, and the classic soup base is full of umami. The beef tongue is also recommended. The fried skewers are very crispy, but lacking in flavors. The portion of the hotpot would be something I’d complain. There are only two small pieces of port feet in the pot… rest are all cabbages…
May 09 · KKKimura is such a great spot for authentic Japanese comfort food! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly. My favorites are the Beef Yakiniku Don – perfectly seasoned, tender, and so satisfying – and the Shabu Shabu, which is rich, flavorful, and perfect for sharing.
