What is worth choosing:
The menu at La Morada is a deep dive into the rich culinary landscape of Oaxaca. The main draw for many is the “Moles” section. Moles are complex, slow-cooked sauces that are a hallmark of Oaxacan cuisine, and La Morada is celebrated for having some of the best in New York. Diners can choose from a variety of moles, including the classic Mole Negro, the vibrant Mole Verde, and the lesser-known but equally delicious Mole Oaxaqueno and Mole Blanco. Each mole is a unique blend of ingredients that offers a distinct flavor profile, and they are all served with your choice of chicken or pork, making for an unforgettable meal.
Beyond the moles, the menu offers a wide range of authentic dishes. The "Platillos" section includes hearty meals like Bistec Ranchero and Fajitas Oaxaquena. The tacos, with their soft tortillas and fresh toppings, are a simple yet perfect representation of authentic Mexican street food. The “Vegan” section is particularly noteworthy, showing a dedication to catering to different dietary needs without sacrificing flavor. Dishes like the Tlacoyo and Chilaquiles are prepared with care and are a favorite among vegetarian and vegan diners.
The prices are transparent and reflective of the quality and authenticity of the ingredients used. While some reviews have noted a price discrepancy from the menu, the overall consensus is that the food is of high quality and offers a true taste of Oaxacan tradition. It's not just about a quick bite; it's about a culinary experience. The restaurant also serves a great selection of drinks, including traditional Mexican beverages like Aguas Frescas and Mexican Chocolate. For those who appreciate real, traditional food and a welcoming atmosphere, La Morada is a must-visit. It's a place that embodies the spirit of its community and serves a level of authenticity that is rare to find. For New Yorkers seeking a true taste of Mexico, this is the place to be.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Can I go against the grain here and say it’s kind of overpriced? The prices aren’t what the menu says and the vegan food is very stingy. Also, heads up, in spite of the credit card signs it’s cash only.Yes, the food is good.Yes. The lady is wonderful. But still, overpriced for you’re getting.
August 15 · Eric CortesGreat place to eat real and traditional Mexican food. The owner and her staff are great people. The make you feel welcome from the time you step in. Keep up the great work and thank you
August 21 · Jose TorresGreat meal and really friendly, welcoming service. Love what the restaurant stands for as well.
April 23 · Logan GoodingSuch a special place! It offers traditional moles and other Mexican classics. The focus on Oaxacan cuisine is wonderful. Everyone here is so sweet, and their community work is incredible. A must visit!!!
November 01 · Yenny CrisciDelicious food, had al pastor tacos, white mole, and vegetable enchiladas. Really flavorful bites of food. As a Korean the white mole was a bit difficult for me to wrap my head around, since we make a dish similar to this but with totally different flavor. The horchata was fresh made (I don’t know how that is possible, but it was good), and limonata great as well.I came after watching Taco Chronicles on Netflix. The famed vegan squash flower tacos were not yet available as it is seasonal and they will appear roughly end of June through September. Can’t wait to come back and try those. Not the most modern dining area, very local feel which was appropriate of course, but I do wish a bit more attention was paid to interior, but like I said, great food and great service.Well worth checking out!
