La Tavola Introduce
Nestled in the heart of Grandview Heights, Ohio, La Tavola is an Italian restaurant that offers a truly special and memorable dining experience. Far from a typical chain restaurant, this establishment has garnered a reputation for its authentic, homestyle Italian cooking and a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a trip to the Italian countryside. The name "La Tavola," which means "the table" in Italian, perfectly captures the restaurant's ethos: a place where friends and family can gather to share incredible food and create lasting memories. Chef Rick and Krista Lopez, the owners, have poured their passion for Italian cuisine into every aspect of the restaurant, from the handcrafted pastas and fresh-baked breads to the carefully curated nightly specials. The menu, which often features seasonal and regional ingredients, reflects a deep respect for traditional Italian cooking techniques and flavors. While it's priced as an upscale dining experience, customers consistently agree that every plate delivers on its promise of quality and flavor. It’s a place that has been around forever and has become a go-to spot for those in the Columbus area seeking a genuine and rustic Italian meal. The small, intimate setting and attention to detail make La Tavola feel like a hidden gem, a place you're thrilled to discover and eager to return to.
La Tavola is conveniently located at 1664 W 1st Ave, Grandview Heights, OH 43212, USA. Its position just west of Grandview Avenue and across the street from the Grandview Heights Public Library makes it a straightforward destination for locals. While it is tucked away, its location is very accessible for those in the Columbus region. The restaurant benefits from a designated parking lot that wraps around the entire building, a significant convenience for diners. Additionally, there is free street parking available on 1st Avenue, providing multiple options for visitors. This accessibility is a key factor in its popularity, as it allows people to easily find and enjoy their dining experience without the stress of navigating a busy urban area for parking. Its central location makes it an ideal spot for a dinner before or after other activities in the area. The restaurant’s small, rustic exterior might not immediately stand out, but its charm and the quality of the food inside are what draw people from all over Ohio to this particular spot.
La Tavola provides a full-service dining experience that prioritizes quality and hospitality. The service is consistently described as "unreal," with staff members from the servers to the hosts moving efficiently and attentively without being intrusive. This level of service is a major highlight for customers. As a small, popular restaurant, they operate on a reservation-only basis for dine-in, which is highly recommended due to the limited seating. This system ensures that guests have a table waiting for them, though as one review mentioned, the booking process can sometimes be problematic and a bit time-consuming without an online reservation system. The restaurant’s hours are specific—typically open in the evening from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on weekdays and 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM on weekends, with a closure on Monday—which underscores its focused approach to dinner service. They also offer a takeout and take-and-bake menu, providing a convenient way to enjoy their delicious food at home. The menu itself is a key service, as it rotates with weekly specials that highlight seasonal ingredients, ensuring a fresh and dynamic experience for repeat visitors. These special dishes, along with their regular menu items, showcase the chef's creativity and commitment to using high-quality, authentic ingredients. This combination of traditional service and modern flexibility makes La Tavola a standout dining option in the area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place was amazing! Highly recommend. 5 star dining experiance from a rustic small Italian restaurant. The service at La Tavola is unreal, hats off. From the servers, to the bus boy and the host. They never stop moving, but are never in the way.Food is phenomenal. Priced as an upscale Italian dish, every plate delivers as such.Arrived at 5 as they are only open 5-9(930). By 515 every table was filled. So in the future I would plan reservations if you are arriving at anytime other than when the door opens.~$50 per person + DrinksApp, 2 entrees, 2 drinks PP, dessert. 130
February 01 · Pat SlatteryI went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and would definitely return. The food is pretty good, the vibe is very homestyle and the rotating menu are definite pluses.A few misses though: first, would love if this place had an online reservation system. I called to make a reservation, was put on hold for 8 minutes, was able to inquire about my table and then informed the time I wanted wasnt available. They offered some other times, I had to talk to my dining partner and had to call back. Took about an hour to reserve when it would take a few moments online. While most of the food was excellent the pizza crust was surprisingly ‘meh’. The toppings were good put when delivered on a pizza crust that looked like and tasted like cardboard it just wasn’t something I’d ever order again. The real star of the menu was the bolognese pasta. The tiramisu was also great. The caprese salad was ok. The cheese was incredible- buttery and fresh but it was too soon for the tomatoes- not quite ripe enough but soon I bet it would be an incredible salad to order.Returned in March 2025. Excellent dishes and lovely atmosphere. I still wish they had an online reservation system. Many times I think about returning but booking a table is the worst/problematic.
May 24 · Grant DonnellyI ordered the duck ragu and some tiramisu and a cannoli. The pasta was excellent! One of the best things I tried was the gnocchi from someone else at my table.I will definitely be back to order that next time. I wasn't a fan of the desserts because neither was sweet enough for my taste. The tiramisu had a strong coffee-bitter taste, and the cannoli was too lemony.Their pastas all looked great - judging from the other plates I saw. My duck ragu was delicious! This is a must try spot in Columbus.
March 19 · Cristian GlezOur group of 6 used to rate 5 stars- clearly was a 3 star. Be aware as I was not, when I chose fettuccine over bow tie pasta, there was an up charge of around $9. When I asked the waiter , he said it was on the menu. So be aware, as I was shocked they could possibly charged that amount of money for a different pasta than the bow tie. As I mention it to others, they , too, were shocked as well
July 27 · bob keidanExcellent service and great food! Had the pasta and meatballs. A tad bit salty on the sauce but the meatballs were excellent. You can taste the freshness. I had the chocolate cake for dessert. It was not too sweet and had a cream filling that was really good. My server was very nice, attentive, and provided excellent service. Prices are fair so it is not too expensive plus the portions are generous. Recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or a date as the service is excellent and the food is great!
