From the moment you walk through the doors, you are invited into a space where every dish is a practice of intention, and the vibrant flavors are a testament to the power of high-quality, plant-based ingredients.
Mantra’s menu is a work of art, designed to appeal to both seasoned vegans and those who are simply curious about plant-based eating. The menu is creative and varied, featuring everything from shareable appetizers and salads to substantial mains and desserts. It's an establishment that proves that eating vegan and gluten-free doesn't have to mean compromising on taste or variety. The high-quality food, which according to many reviews, "doesn’t lack in flavor," speaks for itself and is a key reason for the restaurant's growing recognition in the Houston food scene.
While many customers rave about the exquisite and unique flavors, some feedback notes that the food could use more seasoning, indicating that the flavors, while clean and fresh, might not appeal to every palate. This reflects the restaurant’s philosophy of letting the natural ingredients shine, but it’s a consideration for those who prefer more heavily seasoned dishes. However, a significant number of patrons have returned multiple times, praising dishes like the Coconut Calamari, Buffalo Jack Half Moon Pie, and Raw Strawberry Hibiscus Cheesecake as "absolutely amazing" and "truly exquisite." The menu also features creative twists on classics, such as the Grand Puebla and K. BBQ Tacos, all showcasing the chef's dedication to an innovative and mindful approach to food.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was really excited when my partner had this as my surprise dinner for my bday. The atmosphere is really nice the service was good but I must say that there are things to be perfected when it comes to the taste of the food. My partner and I wasn't really impressed or pleased. When I ordered a side of mushrooms to go along with my food, the mushrooms tasted like they just tossed them on the grill and served. No salt no pepper no seasoning. Every dish we had to add salt and pepper to. And as I thought I was just us other guess we're searching for that salt and pepper shakers as well. It's a one hit wonder for us. Glad I had the experience but we prefer to enjoy our meal and not just get full.
April 03 · Char Real EstateFound my new favorite spot. Black owned vegan restaurant off Fannin. I was pleased to know that this establishment is the same owner as Green Seed Vegan. I would describe Mantra as a unique vegan dining experience. It is completely vegan AND gluten free. The food is high quality and doesn’t lack in flavor. It may take awhile to get your food so be patient (I promise it’s worth the wait). I only went for appetizers and highly recommend yucca fries & tex “egg” roll. The music selection was my favorite. There is bar seating towards the center of the space as well as by the front and family style tables throughout. Their wines & beers are also gluten free. They’re closed Monday & Tuesday and only open for dinner. I hope this place gets more recognition because they make their food with love and it shows.2/9/25- back for more. The coconut calamari was absolutely amazing and the buffalo jack pizza had a very nice spice level to it plus it was full of flavor. Finished it off with the raw strawberry hibiscus cheesecake. Man oh man the flavors here are truly exquisite and one of a kind.
February 09 · Alena BI'm vegan but my husband is not and we love this spot. It's romantic, sweet, special. The food is fresh and delicious. You don't need to be vegan to love this place. Good wine and alcohol selections as well. The service is always wonderful. Prices are very good. One of my faves!
August 08 · Darla BerryMy partner and I have visited mantra a few times and have also ordered food to go. Each time the food has been very tasty and fresh. Each ingredient seems to be chosen and prepared with intention and care. I am vegan but my partner is a carnivore and we both love the plantain nachos. He asked on his own to come back after our initial visit for the delicious food. I’ve also had the Rasta pasta, which was also delicious. Both meals are not like any dish I’ve had before, but feel like comfort food at the same time. Very tasty and nourishing. I can’t wait to try more dishes! This place is a gem.
August 03 · StephanieLoved, LOVED the energy of this place. The staff was so kind and attentive, and good. Oh, the FOOD. Those plantain nachos are a must. It was light and filling. I also had a chai tea alongside the hibiscus cheesecake, which was delicious as well. Great music, beautiful ambiance, Black-owned, vegan, high-quality, I cannot wait to come back and tell everyone!
