★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Sunday brunch is absolutely amazing!I hear it’s only every other month (or month) & with only 40 spots available it books up fast, but if you’re lucky 🍀 enough to snag one, wow!A Trad session with a full Irish breakfast buffet - complete with beans, toast & Irish butter, fried eggs, link sausages, ham, black & white sausages, etc. & an open bar. I washed it down with Guinness & the absolutely delicious Irish coffee! See my photos & videos for details. After a bit of stuffing ourselves & listening to the wonderful melodic Irish music quartet, Mary pulled out from the oven her homemade scones! These hot moist Irish soda bread scones are the stuff of dreams, as my late momma would say, the kind of deliciousness that if you “put it on top of your head, your tongue would beat your brains out to get to it!” It is served with her homemade delicious berry jam & of course, Irish butter 😋Get yourself to the Mary O’s brunch. This is the closest thing to an Irish ceilidh I’ve experienced outside of Ireland. The Thursday jam session is also a must. Sláinte!!!
March 09 · Howard “Howie” TranMary O is the real deal!!! I had the Irish soda bread with the fresh homemade blackberry jam and the shepherd's pie. Both were delicious. I was here for the music but once I smelled the food, I had to try it. The mushrooms were also amazing. Dare I say, they may have been my favorite!!!!
May 18 · Conni FreestoneFive stars for everything! I finally had the opportunity to get Mary’s legendary scones and they are worth the hype!! By far the best scone I’ve ever had, warm with kerry gold butter and homemade blackberry jam. I could eat this everyday and never get sick of it. I ordered the shepherds pie as well for dinner and was surprised by the amazing portion size for the price. Delicious as well! And a huge shoutout to Mary, not only are her scones out of this world, but she is so kind and welcoming. A true Bean Tighe ❤️☘️Thank you, Mary!
May 09 · AveryThere are good bars, there are great restaurants, and then—once in a long while—you find a place like Mary O’s Irish Restaurant & Bar, where the food is honest, the pint is perfect, and the soul of the community beats behind the bar.Let’s get one thing straight: Mary O’s pours the best Guinness in the city. Full stop. It arrives like velvet in a glass—cold, creamy, and with that signature cascade that only happens when someone truly knows what they’re doing. There’s reverence in the pour, patience in the wait, and pure bliss in the first sip. It’s not just a drink here—it’s a ritual. And at Mary O’s, it’s sacred. But Guinness is just the beginning.Step into the cozy, glowing warmth of this East Village haven, and you’ll be greeted by a menu that defies repetition. Why? Because Mary shops fresh—every day. No freezer, no shortcuts. Just honest-to-God cooking with whatever inspired her that morning at the market. The menu is a living, breathing love letter to Irish comfort food with a market-fresh twist. And there’s one dish that haunts my cravings daily: the Irish chicken curry. Creamy, fragrant, perfectly spiced—it’s a dish that grabs you by the soul. I’ve eaten curry across continents, and I can say—hand on heart—this is the best I’ve ever had. If Mary ever stops making it, I may start a hunger strike. But what truly sets Mary O’s apart isn’t just the food or the pour—it’s Mary herself. Her commitment to the community is legendary. She doesn’t just open her doors—she opens her heart. Hosting fundraisers for puppies (yes, actual puppies), providing all the food and drinks herself, just to give back. Or opening up early so that the exhausted camp counselors from the local programs have a place to unwind. There’s a quiet, unwavering generosity that pulses through this place, and you feel it in every detail—from the smile behind the bar to the food on your plate.Mary O’s isn’t just an Irish restaurant. It’s a place where stories are told, pints are honored, and strangers become family. If you haven’t been, go. If you have, you already know: there’s nowhere else quite like it.Sláinte.
August 13 · Wells GardnerIt's a little expensive ($6 for a teabag is wild) but the scones are to die forUpdate: recently we came for dinner and as vegetarians were incredibly disappointed, $18 for a plate of mushrooms garnished with chives and a sprinkle of cheese, no starch, no protein, literally just five bites of mushrooms... for $18 a plateThey don't give you menus so you're never entirely sure what you're getting or what you're paying for it
