The menu at Mi Paso is a culinary adventure. One of the absolute must-try items is the pupusas. As one reviewer mentioned, they are "delicious" and come in a variety of fillings, including classic cheese and the unique Pupusas De Loroco (a cheese pupusa with the edible flower bud from the Central American fernaldia plant). Pupusas are a national dish of El Salvador, a thick, handmade corn tortilla stuffed with savory fillings, often served with curtido (a lightly fermented cabbage slaw) and a tomato salsa. They are a perfect example of the authentic and satisfying comfort food you can find here.
Beyond pupusas, the menu is impressively diverse. For breakfast, you can try a variety of traditional plates like Egg, Beans And Cream or a more elaborate combination like Huevo, Casamiento, Cream, Queso, Chorizo Plátano Y Aguacate (a mix of eggs, rice and beans, cream, cheese, chorizo, plantains, and avocado). For lunch and dinner, the choices are vast. The Carne Asada (grilled meat), a classic of Central American cuisine, is a hearty and flavorful choice. The seafood section is also notable, with multiple preparations of shrimp, including Shrimps In Hot Sauce and Shrimp French Style. You can also get a whole Fried Red Snapper, a classic and impressive dish. The Chicken Breast Fajita and Pepper Steak are also popular choices. The desserts, like Torrejas and Empanadas, provide a sweet ending to your meal. Don't forget to try one of their natural fruit juices like tamarind or Orchata, which a reviewer praised as being "good as well."
Ultimately, what makes Mi Paso so worth choosing is its ability to deliver a full and authentic dining experience. The combination of its extensive and flavorful menu, a welcoming atmosphere, and fast service creates a compelling reason to visit. The fact that the restaurant is good for solo dining, a group outing, or a meal with kids speaks to its versatility. It's a place where you can feel comfortable and satisfied, whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor. With its affordable prices and commitment to quality, Mi Paso is a reliable and highly recommended spot for anyone in New York looking for a genuine taste of Central American culture and cuisine.

June 14 · vito caliaEL SALVADOR 🇸🇻Eat the World NYC review:My first experience with quesadilla salvadoreña came almost 15 years ago shortly after crossing the border with Honduras and sitting down for a coffee after a grueling overnight international bus trip. In the charming city of San Miguel, under the watchful eye of the nearby volcano with the same name, I pointed to the last piece left under a fly screen. After my order at around ten in the morning, they had already sold the lot.I was too tired to inquire what I was ordering, it had just been far too long since I had previously eaten and still hours away from being able to unload my backpack in the guesthouse I would be staying. By the look of it not a lot of hope was inspired, but that quesadilla ended up giving me life and has to this day been an automatic order whenever I see it on the counter at a Salvadoran restaurant.Much different than its more famous namesake to the north, quesadilla salvadoreña ($2) is actually bread and more often is thicker than the version served here. It usually appears more like a small loaf, but what makes it quesadilla is the prominent use of cheese, specifically finely grated queso fresco. Made slightly sweet by sugar and cream, its natural place in life is to be served alongside a cup of coffee.
