★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolute best Omakase in NYC, and I mean it. My colleague and I visited the place for dinner, ended up ordering multiple rounds of uni-sushi add-ons. Incredible food, unbelievable skill and wonderful hospitality by servers. It was definitely one of the best 👌 experience. Please remember us. We will be back!!!
August 15 · JongHa KangWhen I say this was one of the best meals of my life, I mean that sincerely. I had family visiting and we wanted to celebrate a birthday dinner, so we made a reservation here at the sushi bar, and everything exceeded expectations!Professional, attentive service on top of the intimate atmosphere delivering course after course of the freshest Japanese fish you could possibly get (flown in twice a week from Japan, per the chef!!) prepared right in front of you made this amazing experience something I'll never forget. I wish I had taken more pictures, but we were too busy enjoying every moment. We also got some sake and plum wine delivered in delightfully unique carafes, adding to the experience even more. They just opened a few months ago, but they are far and away my new favorite restaurant in Manhattan, if not everywhere. If you find yourself in town for dinner, you definitely need to stop by!
July 13 · Benjamin LaugleService: 5+ ExceptionalFood: 5 ExcellentMido in WV exceeded expectations on all fronts. Highlights: personalized service; attentive chef and staff; special selections of fish not usually served by other restaurants. $100 for such an omakase experience is a no-brainer, especially in the city.I've eaten a lot of sushi around the world and have a bit of a spoiled palate. For omakases, the expectation is usually high due to the notion experiencing the best the chef currated along with the higher price point of the meal.I reserved Mido on a whim for a Monday night meal in a city famous for its variety of exceptional omakase options.Service: the chef was actively watching our every reaction to each individual piece presented and made adjustments accordingly. For example, my gf didn't like the japanese squid app for its texture and strong flavour and I thought the scallop nigiri's yuzu salt was a bit over-powering (both were personal preferrences). We were not vocal about any of this but the chef recognized our slight hesitations and provided extra pieces as a consolation! Pleasantly surprised! They also had a server present a photo of each whole fish on an iPad with both the English and Japanese names in order for us to visualize what we were tasting.Food: I was very pleased with the quality of the fish. More so, I was surprised by the variety, especially with a few pieces that I have not tried before. We are all sick of salmon and yellowtail. Chef's usage of flavours was overall expertly executed and paired well with the individual pieces. Conclusion: don't miss this omakase experience especially at a steal of a price point.
May 13 · Norris LiuGreat quality fresh fish with creative flare!!! Friendly kind staff that’s always ready to help you. We love to bring our friends here that loves sushi and it’s never a disappointment. We always leave happy and full. The uni and salmon roe bowl is to die for.
July 03 · SteakEm AllWent here one evening for date night and had an exceptional omakase experience. The staff was very friendly first off. The sushi was well executed and one thing that stood out is the variety of fish , it was the first time in a longtime that I experienced new fish that I hadn't had before. The chef explained how sources his fish and truly had a passion for his craft which made me enjoy the experience even more . They also have really cool sake pouring carafes.
