Moshe’s falafel Introduce
In the fast-paced, ever-changing landscape of New York City, some places become true institutions by simply doing one thing exceptionally well. Moshe’s Falafel is one such place. For over 40 years, this Mediterranean eatery has been a staple in the Midtown area, first as a beloved food truck and now with a dedicated storefront. Moshe's is celebrated for its commitment to serving up authentic, no-frills falafel that has garnered a loyal following among locals, workers, and tourists. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, focused entirely on delivering a quick, delicious, and satisfying meal to those on the go.
The story of Moshe’s Falafel began with a simple mission: to bring the taste of quality Mediterranean food to the streets of New York. The founder, Moshe, who was born in Israel, drew on his family's Middle Eastern roots to create a menu that is both flavorful and comforting. Over the years, the spot has evolved from a single food truck to a well-known name with multiple locations and a growing reputation for excellence. It’s a testament to the food’s quality and the consistent, fast service that it has maintained its status as a popular choice for lunch and dinner, especially for those seeking a healthy and quick bite.
Moshe’s Falafel is conveniently located at 94 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036, USA, placing it in the bustling heart of Midtown Manhattan's Theater District. This makes it an ideal stop for a quick meal before a Broadway show, during a shopping trip, or as a reliable lunch option for the many professionals working in the area. The location is easily accessible from multiple subway lines, including the B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, W, 1, 2, 3, and 7 trains, making it a breeze to get to from almost anywhere in the city. The establishment also features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that all customers can enjoy their food comfortably. As a cash-only establishment, customers should plan accordingly before their visit.
Moshe’s Falafel provides a range of services designed to meet the needs of its diverse and fast-moving crowd.

Moshe’s Falafel stands out for several key reasons, which have cemented its reputation as a Midtown institution.
Authentic Falafel: The cornerstone of the menu is the falafel itself. Made from chickpeas, herbs, and spices, the falafel balls are known for their traditional preparation. While reviews can sometimes be mixed on the texture, the flavor is what keeps many customers coming back. The falafel can be ordered in a pita, on a platter, or simply as a side.
Healthy and Vegetarian Options: The menu is naturally vegetarian and vegan-friendly, making it a great choice for those with dietary restrictions. Beyond the falafel, the Couscous Vegetables, Salad Platter, and Hummus Platter offer nutrient-rich and satisfying meals. The vegetable and lentil soups are also popular choices for a lighter, healthier option.
Fast Service: In a city that never slows down, fast service is a major highlight. Moshe’s is known for its quick turnaround time, ensuring you get your food without a long wait. This is especially beneficial for people on their lunch break or those heading to a show.
Casual and Friendly Atmosphere: The atmosphere is very casual and welcoming. The establishment is a transgender-safe space and LGBTQ+ friendly, creating a comfortable environment for all. The staff is often described as friendly and approachable, adding to the positive experience.
Cash-Only Policy: A unique feature of this establishment is that it is a cash-only business. This is an important detail for first-time visitors to note, as it’s a policy that reinforces its traditional, no-frills approach to service.
When you visit Moshe’s Falafel, the clear choice is to dive into the menu's namesake: the falafel. The falafel sandwich, served in a warm pita with fresh vegetables and sauces, is the most popular item for a reason. Customers often highlight the ability to customize their sandwiches with a variety of toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles.
Beyond the classic falafel, the menu offers several other great options. The Hummus Platter, served with warm chickpeas, falafel balls, and pita, is a filling and protein-rich meal. For something different, the Cauliflower Sandwich is a unique and tasty alternative that has also received praise. The soups, particularly the Lentil Soup, are a perfect choice for a colder day or as a simple side dish. While the experience may vary from person to person, the value proposition—a quick, affordable, and filling meal in the heart of Times Square—is what makes Moshe’s Falafel a perennial favorite. It represents a piece of New York’s street food history and continues to serve up a comforting taste of the Mediterranean to a diverse and hungry crowd.

July 28 · Guy EichlerYesterday we decided to try this place after a new client recommended it, saying they had great falafel. We usually get our falafel at the corner of 6th Avenue and 23rd Street — we’ve been going there for years and it’s always delicious. We expect falafel to have that juicy, fresh flavor, with chickpeas, herbs, a pleasant texture — not crumbly, not overcooked, and definitely not dry.Unfortunately, the falafel here was the opposite — overcooked and dry, as if it had been sitting in a deep fryer for too long. The price was low, but the overall set was unimpressive — no napkins, no forks, no utensils of any kind. The sauce was so unpleasant that we threw it away. The pickled cucumber was tiny, barely the size of a pinky finger
August 12 · Max NoNameWow! After visiting the natural history museum in nyc, I was super hungry and bumped into this delicious food! Hummus is creamy and delicately prepared, falafel balls are crispy and tasty (bread could be better though, it was too chewy for my taste😕). I had also the Sandwich with deep fried eggplant, that is a must! Great service and vibes at the venue… thanks again!
April 06 · Yola CaceresI love falafel but this just wasn't very good. The falafel was almost like a french fry -- it didn't have much flavor and really relied on the fried exterior. The pickle it came with was pretty lousy. I didn't think the veggies were that good either.Sauce: The hot sauce it came with was vinegar based which just didn't vibe with the falafel taste. A pepper based hot sauce would be much better. There also wasn't much humus or tahini, both of which could improve the quality. It was also pretty expensive for a food truck. $11 for a small pita. I can get a full platter for less.Service was great, seems to be popular.
April 23 · Chris Gregorywhat an exciting treat to have the truck upstate for the summer. we loved the convenience of getting the tasty falafel from the truck when it came to our colony just in time for the 9 days!!!! cant wait to visit the store when we get back to the city.
