Choosing to dine at Nowon East Village is about more than just a meal; it’s about experiencing a unique and thoughtful culinary concept. What truly makes this restaurant a standout is its ability to take familiar comfort foods and elevate them with unexpected Korean twists. This is why it has earned a dedicated following and continues to be a popular destination for those seeking something new.
The menu itself is a testament to this creative vision. While many come for the widely celebrated Legendary Cheeseburger, a must-try for any burger aficionado, the real magic lies in the dishes that showcase the restaurant’s fusion identity. The 'Chopped Cheese' Rice Cakes are a perfect example, taking a classic New York sandwich and reinventing it with chewy Korean rice cakes. Similarly, the Skillet Bacon & Kimchi Fried Rice is a deliciously savory and satisfying dish that perfectly balances smoky bacon with tangy kimchi. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We were really excited to try this place, and unfortunately it just wasn’t for us. I’ll preface by saying the service is lovely and it’s a well run establishment, we just weren’t a fan of the food.We tried the set menu and were surprised at how small the portions were considering paying around 75 / person ( after tax & tip ). I thought we would all get our own dish but we ended up splitting everything which at the point we would definitely have opted to get just the burger. For the food, ricotta toast was nice but nothing crazy. After that we really just didn’t enjoy anything (the chopped cheese rice cakes were a big pass, we didn’t touch the tater tots as they were drenched in a bad sauce, and it was so odd that the Caesar veggies were lukewarm?). The dessert really wasn’t it either. Burger was good but not worth the hype in our opinion.A shame, we wouldn’t come back but if the food sounds good in your mind you may like it! Just definitely not our preference. The ambiance is very « unique » as well…
August 22 · Dionne ChenSuper cool spot with a great atmosphere! Went were able to be seated quickly since we didn’t have reservations. Went did the prefix EP menu and each dish was really good! The chicken, chopped cheese, and burger were our favorites and we were happy with the large portions as well! The NA wine option was super delightful!Service was okay! Our server was super nice and welcoming, but we did wait probably close to 10 minutes after being seated to get our drink orders taken. Other than that our service was okay!We would definitely come back here and recommend checking it out!
June 12 · Stephanie ProulxSolid experience.Loved the chopped cheese rice cakes. The meatiness of the sauce would actually make for an amazing ragu sauce with pasta or noodles. Now onto the legendary burger. I had high hopes for this. Was it everything I hoped? It was a tasty burger, the meat was really perfectly cooked with some tasty crust. However the burger as a whole was still very meat forward. I was hoping for stronger flavors of the kimchi spiced mayo and the pickles to come through to make it taste a bit more unique. I think a bit more of the acid flavor from the pickles would make this better. Would love it if you could add some customization to the burger as well. Tasty, but it didn't taste as unique as I was hoping for.And they could use some veggie dishes tooAtmosphere wise, it was a bit dimly lit and music was loud, if you're into that.
April 17 · Simon HeatherBurgers and tots are just out of this world!!! Best burger I had in my life that had the juiciest and savory tastes with little kick of kimchi spice makes it a great balance. Love their shrimp skewers as well
July 02 · Johan BaeThe kimchi burger was Delicious, everything single bite and with the garlic tater tots! We started with grill shrimp as appetizer and wow the flavors are amazing!! My husband and I had a great time! Definitely one of the best burger I ever had!
