★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Olle is one of my favourite go-to restaurants in the ktown area, and I've been more times than I can count. The restaurant is deceptively large, and it's usually pretty easy to get a last-minute reservation or walk-in for a table. One of their well-known specialties is their naengmyeon, and rightfully so -- both the mul naengmyeon (regular) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy) are so delicious. I love how chewy the noodles are, and the cold broth is always super refreshing. The pickles and cucumbers are a nice touch (although I do remember when it used to come with a slice of pear / half an egg!).The galbi jjim is also super popular - while it can be a bit salty at times, the meat is so tender and just falls apart when chewing. I always recommend getting the galbi naengmyeon combo, which I think is a much better value than ordering the full size galbi jjim, even when you add the side dishes.I'm also a big fan of the soulongtang (rich and hearty broth that is perfect for a cold day) and the galbi tang (broth is so fragrant and a nice complement to the heavier galbi jjim). Some other quick notes:- chueo tang: kind of a miss. the broth has a nice smell but it's just too thick/heavy and weighs down your palate really quickly.- bibimbap: solid dish but nothing particularly notable about it.- janchi gooksoo: I think this only comes as a side to the galbi jjim. I think it's pretty solid as a light contrast to the salty/savoury meat.- bossam: I like the how clean and refined the pork tasted (cooked really well, very tender), but I think it can be pricey for the portion sizeThe banchan are also always a hit -- I really love the rice cakes, fish cakes, and pancakes (?), but honestly they're all quite delicious.Price point can be a bit high depending on what you order, but it's nice in larger groups to be able to share (or get the combo like I suggested above! Perfect amount for 2 people).
June 23 · Matthew Hobefore we even sat down there was a bottle of chilled barley tea on the table and i already knew i was going to like this place. the menu isn’t overwhelming and we ended up really enjoying every single dish we got. the banchan was also delicious especially the pancakes! we had to order a few rounds. menu highlights: galbi jim (so tender and flavorful), cold noodles, and skate fish.
June 27 · Lori LamThe food is ok in korean food. I have high expectation on Galbi Jjim but it only shows taste good in first 5-10mins when it still hot. The small dishes are tasting good. The server is good at the beginning. When they see you almost finish. They keep coming and keep asking am I finish and tried to clean the table and rush you out. Once the table cleaned, the check come within 5 seconds. This is not a good place to hang out with friend and talk.
June 19 · JayW32We had lunch at Olle today and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The noodles we ordered were not fully cooked, and we had to complain multiple times to a female server about this issue. Instead of addressing it properly, she told us it was because we didn’t mix the noodles quickly enough. She then added some water from the kitchen without mixing it in and just left it like that. The dish was still undercooked, and the service felt dismissive and careless. Overall, it was a very poor dining experience. I will also be sending evidence and a detailed explanation to New York food safety authorities to address this matter.
August 24 · SeanThe galbi jiim is very very special. That is a must order. We ordered 3 to split amongst 8 people and it was perfect. Some of the most tender short rib I’ve had in awhile. For home style Korean food that leaves you feeling satiated, this is pretty good. The eel was pretty nice and the kimchi stew with beef was tasty too.Ordering the fried rice with the galbi jiim is a really good move, but note it does kinda take awhile (15-20 min extra, though maybe they were just busy).
