★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have been enjoying Osteria Al Doge for over 20 years. From the moment you walk in you are greeted and treated like family. We had the pleasure of being taken care of by Chris today. The place is spotless clean and the finest ingredients are used to prepare the food. The libations were expertly crafted. Are appetizers and entrées came out hot and delicious. I cannot stroll enough, recommend visiting here. They can easily accommodate groups of all sizes. They also understand Timing limitations when you need to get to a show. We have never been disappointed here. I promise you will enjoy the food just as much as we do. The atmosphere adds to the experience. Can’t wait to come back. God Bless Blue & Gold! God Bless America! Remember Everyone Deployed Everyday!
July 13 · Louis SchornsteinLike many others, we came here before a show. We came with a group of 7. Had reservations. Everything was ready for us when we arrived. We were in early at 4:30p so it was still very empty. By 6:00p they had a line out the door.We really enjoyed ourselves here. The service was wonderful. The atmosphere was very nice as well. The food was good. Like others, I think I expected a bit more out of the location and price. I had the veal scallopine and it was pretty bland. Needed to add salt and pepper and not just a little. The pasta dishes were nice. Everything was really fresh and well presented. The waiter made a great wine suggestion.Overall we enjoyed it a lot.
June 21 · Autumn SpringerThis is a nice looking, two level restaurant (see my photos). My waiter was going through the motions of being a waiter without the needed attention and appearance of contentment. For my main course I ordered the grilled mixed fish that did not come close to my expectations. I thought that it was to be fish on one plate and a salad on another plate. Instead, it was a small portion of a variety of cooked fish and shell fish served with mostly small uncooked tomatoes on the same plate. The flavor of most of the close to room temperature fish and shell fish was gone. The mens room is rather unusual, maybe it's Italian style. Their lamb shank, which I had on a different day, was served hot but did not have the strong flavor that lamb shanks have had in the past elsewhere.
June 30 · Harvey MessingThis restaurant is very much a pre Broadway show restaurants for people who live in New York City or in the surrounding suburbs. I’ve come here on several occasions before seeing a show both by myself and with others. I would recommend having a reservation, but I’ve also been able to walk in and sit at table or a bar without a reservation. For the neighborhood (that is known for having restaurants with poor tasting food, bad service, and high prices), this restaurant is an exception. The food is good and the service is fine. I really enjoy the ravioli in the sage butter sauce. They also give you a fresh bread basket to accompany your meal.My biggest complain about this restaurant is that it only has two individual restrooms. I wouldn’t count on going to the restroom here before your show as there will be a line.I would recommend and I would go back. Dinner for one with two glasses of wine was about $70 including tip.
April 01 · David JosephMy sister and I just visited New York for my birthday and I had reservations at one of my favorite restaurants in New York, Becco, But they had been undergoing reservations and were unable to open and canceled my reservation with only about 12 hours notice. So I did some quick research online and found this restaurant which turned out to be directly across the street from the millennium hotel where we were staying, I always believe that everything happens for a reason because this restaurant was absolutely outstanding, and in my opinion, even better than Becco. This may be my new favorite Italian restaurant when I visit New York City. The atmosphere is very quaint and comfortable although the tables are a bit close together, which is pretty common for small New York City restaurants. Even though it was pretty crowded, the noise level was not uncomfortable, and even though we were sitting pretty close to our neighbors it was kind of fun sharing conversation and comparing what we had ordered. We started out with two appetizers: the grilled octopus, which is on their regular menu and the appetizer special for the day which was stuffed zucchini flowers. Both appetizers were outstanding. We then shared two entrées: the pappardellle pasta with roasted lamb ragu, and the lamb shank, which is very similar to Osoco, but with lamb instead of veal. Both dishes were absolutely phenomenal! The lamb was just so tender and melted in your mouth and the pasta you could tell was homemade. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious. We were both so happy that we stumbled upon this place and I highly recommend recommend it. The prices are pretty reasonable by New York City standards. The pasta portion is basically enough for one person unless you’re going to share two entrées the lamb shank was quite large sharing. The two dishes was perfect for us. They brought me a birthday dessert with a candle. We also had pre-dinner drinks and a bottle of wine with dinner, Two appetizers and two entrées, espresso martinis for dessert and the total bill was about $230 Which I thought was well worth it and not at all overly priced for what we had! We will definitely be back!
