Pho John St Introduce
In a city with endless dining options, finding a spot that’s truly "legit" can feel like a quest. Pho John St, nestled at 45 John Street in the heart of the Financial District, is one of those rare finds. This authentic Vietnamese restaurant has quickly become a go-to for locals and tourists alike who are seeking a taste of genuine, flavorful Asian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is casual and welcoming, a perfect setting to enjoy a hearty and comforting meal. Unlike many of the city's fast-paced eateries, Pho John St delivers both speed and substance, making it ideal for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner.
What sets Pho John St apart is its commitment to authentic flavors and generous portions. The pho, for which the restaurant is named, is a standout, with a broth that’s "tasty and authentic" and has "deep flavors like grandma’s secrets." The restaurant doesn’t skimp on ingredients, either; the portion size of the pho is "surprisingly big," with the amount of meat being "way more than I expected," a rare and appreciated quality in Manhattan. The menu goes beyond just pho, offering a range of classic Vietnamese dishes that are prepared with the same level of care. From the "all crunch and juicy" beef bánh mì, which includes traditional pâté, to the perfectly "tender and seasoned just right" pork chops over rice, every dish is a testament to the restaurant’s dedication to quality.
Beyond the main courses, the appetizers and beverages are equally impressive. The summer rolls come with a unique satay sauce that "just goes perfectly with them," and the Vietnamese coffee is "mad strong," providing a perfect pick-me-up. The combination of great food, chill vibes, and fast service makes Pho John St a true hidden gem for anyone in the New York area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Pho John St. hits different, seriously legit. The beef bánh mì was all crunch and juicy beef, no cap. Pho beef bowl came through with deep flavors like grandma’s secrets. Pork chops over rice smacked, tender and seasoned just right. Vietnamese coffee was mad strong, had me wired. Chill vibes and fast service. This spot’s a hidden gem, fr!
April 25 · Namkwann (NK)It’s very spacious and the glass roof is nice to sit underneath it.I ordered pho, the proportion was surprisingly big. And I had ate pho in different countries, this restaurant definitely provides good proportion, even for men. And broth was tasty and authentic, the meat they give was way more than I expected. My husband ordered banb mi. It also has pate which many restaurants don’t do.Summer rolls comes with satay sauce which makes it different from many places. Rolls are fresh and the sauce just goes perfectly with them. It’s definitely a worth-going restaurant for anyone who like Vietnamese food!
July 05 · JenniferThe pho here hit the spot, especially on a drizzly summer day. The prices were very reasonable given its fidi location. We got the flank and brisket pho with the flank slices on the side to get to the perfect temperature and the combo banh mi to share. The portions were very filling, where we saved the 2nd half of the sandwich for later. The only underwhelming dish was the summer roll, where the shrimps were pretty small and the fillings were not too exciting. The restaurant was spacious, with skylights and plants, and very clean. The server was friendly, and the food came out pretty fast. I would highly recommend visiting this spot when you are in the area.
June 14 · Cindy WThe food here is quite good, but the service could use some improvement. This Vietnamese restaurant has a lot of potential, but our experience was slightly marred by slow service.I was nearly finished with my meal by the time the spring rolls and lemongrass chicken finally arrived, despite ordering everything at the same time. When the server placed the dish on the table, they didn’t say anything, which felt a bit too casual. We visited on a Sunday, which seemed to be an especially busy day for them. If you’re looking for faster service, it might be better to visit on a quieter day. Will I go again? Sure, but they could use some improvement. That said, I really enjoyed the spring rolls!
March 12 · Troy GordonThe restaurant has a laid-back vibe. The pho comes in a huge portion. While nothing really stands out as exceptional, the overall atmosphere is pleasant, the food is decent, and the prices are affordable—it makes me want to come back.
