Ramen Ishida Introduce
If you're on the hunt for a truly exceptional ramen experience that goes beyond the typical hearty tonkotsu, you need to put Ramen Ishida on your radar. Located in the heart of the Lower East Side, this small but mighty spot has earned a reputation among New York City's ramen aficionados for its nuanced, refined approach. It's not just another ramen shop; it's a destination for those who appreciate the delicate balance and depth of flavor found in modern Tokyo-style ramen. Ramen Ishida showcases a lighter, chicken-based broth that is both incredibly clear and packed with a complex umami that will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about ramen.
This isn't just about a simple bowl of noodles; it's about an art form. The chef, owner Yohei Ishida, brings a level of precision and artistry to each bowl, using carefully sourced ingredients to create broths that are both delicate and deeply satisfying. The signature New Tokyo Style Shoyu Ramen, for example, is a masterclass in subtlety, with a light chicken and soy broth that is elevated by hints of truffle and a refreshing touch of shiso leaf. It's a bowl that's been lauded by seasoned travelers and locals alike for its innovation and unforgettable flavor.
Despite its small size, Ramen Ishida has created a big buzz in the city's food scene. The atmosphere is casual, cozy, and trendy, making it a great spot for a solo dining adventure or a quick, intimate meal with a friend. The limited counter seating adds to the authentic, close-knit feel, allowing you to watch the chef at work and fully immerse yourself in the experience. While there's often a line, the fast service and incredible food make the wait completely worthwhile. It’s a favorite among a diverse crowd, from college students to locals and tourists, all united by their love for a perfect bowl of ramen.
---Ramen Ishida is perfectly situated in one of Manhattan's most dynamic and accessible neighborhoods.
Address: 122 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002, USA
Nestled on the Lower East Side, the restaurant is easily reachable by public transportation. The Delancey Street-Essex Street station (servicing the F, M, J, and Z trains) is just a short walk away, making it convenient for anyone coming from other parts of the city. While there's paid street parking available, public transit or ride-sharing services are often the easiest way to get there, given the dense, bustling nature of the neighborhood. The area itself is vibrant, with plenty of shops, bars, and galleries to explore before or after your meal.
The restaurant's design is compact but highly functional, with counter seating that creates a communal, engaging dining experience. It's worth noting that the space is small, so it's best to plan your visit accordingly, especially during peak lunch and dinner hours. However, the quick service ensures that the wait is rarely too long. For those with accessibility needs, the restaurant is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and restroom, ensuring a welcoming environment for all guests.

---What truly sets Ramen Ishida apart and makes it an easy choice for New Yorkers is its unique and high-quality take on a classic dish. While many ramen spots in the city focus on heavy, rich broths, Ramen Ishida offers a refreshing alternative with its clear, chicken-based shoyu broth. This broth, infused with delicate notes of truffle and shiso, provides a flavor profile that is both clean and incredibly profound. It's a taste that one reviewer, a frequent traveler to Japan, said was an "innovation and playfulness" they had never experienced in Japan itself. This speaks volumes about the chef's ability to honor traditional flavors while creating something new and exciting.
The dining experience is also a major draw. The small, intimate setting with just a few counter seats makes you feel like you've been let in on a secret. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from the hustle of the city and simply savor your meal. The quick service and casual, cozy atmosphere are ideal for a solo diner or a couple seeking a quality meal without the long, drawn-out formality of a typical restaurant. It’s a place that prioritizes the food and the craft, and that dedication shines through.
Moreover, Ramen Ishida’s menu is designed to be accessible to a broader audience. With delicious vegan and vegetarian options that don’t compromise on flavor, it’s a spot where everyone can find a meal to love. The Spicy Mushroom Ramen, for example, is available with either tofu or pork, and the rich, earthy broth has a creamy texture from six different types of mushrooms. This flexibility, combined with the consistent quality and excellent service, makes Ramen Ishida not just a place to eat, but a place to return to again and again. For a unique, memorable, and expertly crafted bowl of ramen in New York City, Ramen Ishida is a must-visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ordered Shoyu and it was delicious. As a person who has traveled japan more than 20 times, this is a taste with innovation and playfulness that I’ve never experienced in Japan.Small place with limited seats. Can only wait around since they won’t call you, but 6pm on a weekday was about 15min wait. No too badMinimum spending per person is $20
April 29 · Tiffany LiuTiny spot but with ramen that packs a punch!!This is my favorite ramen spot in the city and one I keep going back to again and again. I love this style of shoyu broth and the subtle truffle and shiso flavor is so good!!Worth noting this location has no bathroom. But exciting they have a new larger location that’s recently opened in Chelsea!! 🙌🏻
February 18 · Erica NgBest ramen I’ve had in a long time and probably ever. Me and my friend both got the shoyu ramen, the broth was flavorful but not overpowering. We also got the crab and cream croquettes and they were to die for, it came with a peanut sauce which complimented the croquettes perfectly. Also highly recommend the iced matcha. We will 100% be back!
June 21 · Shannon RiordanThis is how you would have ramen in Japan 🇯🇵. Just a few counter seats. Quick service. Good noodles 🍜. Nice staff. Reasonably priced. Usually a long wait to get a seat. No public restroom. Second location in Chelsea. Give it a try if you’re in the area. We will definitely be going back.
February 21 · Eric San JoséThe broth & toppings were really good. The noodles were a little softer than I’d like it. Friendly staff. Few bad stool seats that aren’t really meant for long seating, just like the ramen shops in Japan.
