Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich Deli Introduce
For those on a quest for the perfect Vietnamese sandwich, or banh mi, in New York City, Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich Deli is a name that consistently rises to the top. Tucked away on Broome Street, this unassuming, no-frills spot has earned a reputation as a local legend. It's not a place with flashy decor or extensive seating; its charm lies in its authenticity and laser-focus on creating a truly excellent sandwich. This deli proves that sometimes the best food comes from the most dedicated and straightforward kitchens.
The core of Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich Deli's appeal is its commitment to serving fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned banh mi. The menu is concise but packed with classic options that cater to both meat-lovers and vegetarians. Each sandwich is a symphony of textures and tastes, combining savory meats or tofu with crisp pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, and a touch of richness from pâté and butter, all nestled in a fresh baguette. This dedication to quality has made it a go-to for a quick bite, a satisfying lunch, or a casual dinner, drawing in a steady stream of locals, university students, and tourists who are in on the secret.
Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich Deli is strategically located at 369 Broome St, New York, NY 10013, USA. Its position on the border of SoHo and Little Italy, just a stone's throw from Chinatown, makes it incredibly accessible. This vibrant and trendy neighborhood is a hub of activity, with a mix of shops, art galleries, and other eateries. The deli is easy to reach from various parts of Manhattan, making it a convenient stop for a quick and satisfying meal.
For those traveling by subway, several lines are within a short walking distance, making public transit the most recommended way to get there. The deli has a very small footprint and is primarily designed for takeaway. While there are a few outdoor seating options available for those who want to eat on-site, the space is limited, so many customers opt for a quick grab-and-go experience. Parking in this area can be a challenge, with both free and paid street parking available, but often difficult to find. This spot is perfect for solo diners looking for a quick and delicious meal without the fuss of a full-service restaurant.

For a first-timer at Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich Deli, the number of options can feel limited, but each sandwich is a winner. The best place to start is with the classics, as they highlight what makes this spot so special.
The most popular and highly recommended item is the House Special Banh Mi (No. 1). This is the quintessential Vietnamese sandwich, loaded with grilled pork, Vietnamese salami, and Vietnamese ham. It's a fantastic blend of savory, salty, and sweet flavors that are balanced by the fresh cucumber, cilantro, and pickled vegetables. Many regulars attest that it "hits the spot" every time.
Another must-try is the Curry Chicken Banh Mi (No. 8). This sandwich is a flavor powerhouse, featuring tender dark meat chicken infused with rich, fragrant curry spices. It offers a different but equally delicious experience, and it's a favorite for those who enjoy a bit more heat and a deeper flavor profile. The Pâté Supreme (No. 5), with its rich pork liver pâté, is another classic for those who appreciate that decadent, earthy flavor.
For vegetarians, the Vegetarian Chicken with Lemongrass (No. 11) is an excellent choice. The tofu is marinated with a flavorful lemongrass sauce, creating a satisfying and savory experience that stands on its own.
Don't forget to grab a beverage to complete your meal. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee is a non-negotiable addition for many customers. Its robust, sweet, and creamy nature is the perfect foil for the savory banh mi. The Thai Iced Tea is another great choice for a sweet and refreshing drink.
Finally, a key thing to remember when you go is that this is a cash-only establishment. Be sure to have cash on hand to avoid any issues. For a truly authentic, flavorful, and quick banh mi experience in New York City, Saigon Vietnamese Sandwich Deli is a destination that lives up to its hype.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1never knew this place existed until recently. I’ve been on a hunt for a good banh mi in nyc and this place is definitely on one of my top picks so far. Ordered number 1 spicy and it hit the spot. Very flavorful. I would have liked to taste more butter and pate that’s for sure but overall a decent sandwich. It’s CASH ONLY.
July 11 · J. GurungI absolutely love banh Mi's so may be a bit more critical. Solid sandwich with very flavor able fillings and meats. The big let down for me was the quality of the bread. Hard to describe but found it too "chaulky" instead of a chewy texture.
August 19 · Harry H LuongThis place is 🔥🔥🔥. As a vegetarian, it’s hard to find good Bành Mi, but this place hits it on the money! No frills, hole in the wall, but that’s how you know this place is the real deal that serves authentic and good food. There were tons of people coming in and out of here on a Wednesday at lunch, so clearly IYKYK. Skip the overpriced pizza and come here for some real cuisine. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the neighborhood.
July 09 · Neal BakshiCash or Venmo accepted (Venmo has a $1 extra charge).Solid banh mi, I got #1 house special (spicy). Highly recommend. Would definitely come again.Sat outside in the shade, it was perfect.
August 10 · Heidi LiouWe tried the banh mi here and loved it. My wife is Vietnamese and she thought this is best banh mi she has ever had. The place is small so it's best to get takeout, which is what we did. For takeout orders, they put the veggie filling separately so that the baguette doesn't get soggy. We tried their house special and grilled chicken. Both were excellent with very generous filling and the baguette was just the right texture (some fall apart when you bite, but this one was the right mix of crunchy and chewy).
