A big thank you to May, who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She was warm, attentive, and had the best hospitality.Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a good Japanese spot
June 20 · TinaWe had a good experience at Sake Bar Hagi. The food was tasty, and one thing we really appreciated was how fast everything arrived—definitely a plus when you’re hungry!• Glazed Edamame: I liked the flavor, but it was a bit spicy.• Gyoza: The taste was great, but it was a bit crispy. I enjoyed it, but my partner prefers a softer texture.• Chicken Yakisoba: Really good! One of the highlights of the meal.• Sweet Potato Sushi: The taste was nice, and you wouldn’t even guess it was sweet potato.• Veggie Sushi: My partner liked it but didn’t love it. The presentation could have been better.
February 23 · Mika Nesseroff Art StudioGreat Place. It was recommended to me on a Facebook group [eat outside your world] and we went before seeing the final dress rehearsal for Good Night, and Good Luck. Will definitely be back. The 1up machine near the bathroom is a great touch.
March 12 · Richard ScottAmazing place. Great vibes, good music, decorations, and the bar hostess is such fun! The restroom is Mario themed, and you can play Pacman while waiting for the restroom.I had nabeyaki udon and it was SO GOOD. The soup was rich, poached eggs were glorious, and the udon texture was perfect. Great soup, tasty and nourishing.
July 13 · Nara E$15 MINIMUM PER GUEST. We popped by for their happy hour and did not think that even our non-drinking friend would be required to meet this minimum. Ended up having to spend much more than we intended on the drinks.Ambiance (5/5): I loved the appeal of the very themed Japanese culture including the anime posters, trinkets, and Japanese background music. It reminds me of the restaurants when I visited in Japan.Service (5/5): There was only 2 parties when I came in on 12pm on a Friday. I was serviced quickly.Food (2/5): They have an amazing lunch menu with most items discounted. I stopped in after I saw their signage outside. Their drinks looked great but sadly could not partake during the workday. I ordered their Tsukemen (special dipping noodle) for $15. The noodles were cooked perfectly to a nice chewy bounce, chilled and good portion. The whole soft boiled egg was too well done and not marinated. The seaweed pieces were stale. The broth was not like usual Tsukemen dish, which is typically saltier, richer with a thick consistency (than that of regular ramen). Therefore, the thinned out broth did not stick to the ramen and fell short. The broth tasted great though. The dish came with 2 very thin slices of pork, which was flavored beautifully but not much fat or sized portion. The spicy version includes a huge helping of a chili sauce (tastes like siracha but not the same) at no extra cost.
