The restaurant’s philosophy is simple yet effective: serve fresh, delicious Italian fare in a warm and cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for a romantic date night, a relaxed dinner with friends, or a satisfying solo meal. What truly sets San Marzano apart is its dedication to making fresh pasta in-house daily. This commitment to quality and craftsmanship is evident in every bite, elevating simple dishes into something special. The menu is designed to be both accessible and exciting, with a "build-your-own-pasta" concept that allows diners to mix and match their favorite pasta shapes and sauces. This level of customization ensures that every meal is exactly what you're craving. Beyond the food, San Marzano is known for its impressive beverage program, featuring great cocktails and a well-curated wine list that perfectly complements the menu. The ambiance is one of its key features, with dim lighting and a trendy vibe that creates a romantic and intimate setting. While some might find the lighting too low, most appreciate the "cozy" feeling it provides, which is a rare find in such a bustling neighborhood. The restaurant attracts a diverse crowd, from college students and locals to tourists, all of whom are drawn to its reputation for great food and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff, for the most part, is attentive and helpful, contributing to a pleasant experience even during the busiest hours. It's a true gem in the East Village, offering a taste of authentic Italian cuisine that is both delicious and reasonably priced for the quality. It’s a place that lives up to its name, which is a nod to the prized Italian tomato, known for its rich flavor and sweetness, and an ingredient that likely finds its way into many of their delicious sauces.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Unpopular opinion: dim lights NEED to go … enough about the ‘vibes’. I actually want to see my food and company!! One more light bulb won’t hurt the ambiance, I promise !!Had a little dinner with some friends in a cozy part of the city
March 01 · ElaineThe food and drinks are amazing, however my experience with the service was not great. We got a text that our table was ready (after we waited the 40 minutes they said it would take) and were told “give us two more minutes”. That 2 minutes turned into 15 and no one came to check on us for another 5 minutes. We were never given water until we asked for a second time and they didn’t bring us a bottle like they did for every other table in the place. Would love to give a higher rating because our food was amazing, but the service was not it.
August 02 · Jenna LanceHad a wonderful experience here! The good was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was very chill. The pear and gorgonzola ravioli and the pesto caprese panini were both soo good. The prices were also not bad at all, totally worth it for what we were served. Also, the desserts are amazing! We had the cannoli and ricotella and highly recommend them both!
February 24 · Sarah NorrisGreat vodka sauce + got a pitcher of sangria for a very reasonable price. The serving size of the pasta was perfect even though it didn’t seem that large — was quite filling.Would come back again! Only wish that their AC was a bit stronger LOL was sweating inside
June 26 · Ya YayAbsolutely enjoyed my experience here. A friend and I choose this location at random for quality hangout time in the city and we could not have chosen a better spot. I got the Whole Wheat noodles w/ shrimp scampi sauce and thoroughly enoyed that. The garlic bread was the perfect crisp with the right ratio of garlic and oil. The vibe and music were additional benefits. Overall great experience. Thank you to the staff there that day, it was only two waiters and they were doing an outstanding job.
