★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Shuko is absolutely the best omakase in NYC! This top 50 restaurant in New York City delivers an unparalleled dining experience. The fish, sourced straight from Japan, was unbelievably fresh—the Hokkaido uni was incredible, melting in my mouth, and the otoro was pure perfection. Our chef, Darry, was outstanding, constantly checking to ensure every bite was perfect and genuinely caring about our happiness. When my girlfriend asked for hojicha (not on the menu), Darry went out of his way to check with the team and found some in the back—such thoughtful service! The staff’s attention to detail and willingness to offer off-menu items made us feel so special. The curated music set a fantastic vibe in the intimate setting. For anyone seeking fresh Japanese sushi and an unforgettable omakase experience in NYC, Shuko is a must-visit gem. Highly recommend!
July 13 · Caldie10 out of 10 experience. The Sushi Omakase Experience was amazing. Some of the best fish I have ever had. The Spanish Mackerel with Ginger Root was my favorite. There’s also a staff member walking around with a tub of ginger to give you refills, so if you are like me and love ginger this is your spot. Take your time to speak with the Chef. We discussed each piece and the reason for its selection. The staff was very welcoming and enjoyed my groups curiosity. This place also goes nuts with Uni and Toro. Just a really great time with my brother and sister! It was also my Sister’s Birthday which Shuko went above and beyond with a handwritten note signed by the whole staff! Great Restaurant.
March 09 · Michael Tagarissuper intimate vibe and great overall experience. (i can’t really imagine not doing bar seating here, it was so fun seeing everything being made) it was 16 courses for $270 pp i believe with options to do add ons. we spent roughly 2 hours heregreat cocktail and sake options too. -1 star bc i do always normalize for price and there’s definitely more responsibly priced options in the city for omakase. there’s also no sign outside which is kinda cool
January 12 · Cindy HaoI came here to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. We were able to book the private dinning room which was really nice. The room could seat 6 people comfortably and was away from everyone else. The cost for one person was $280 with the possibility of changing out the second course for a milk bread topped with caviar, toro and Uni. The food overall was fresh. Everything tasted good much like most high end omakase places in the city. The waiters and waitresses were knowledgeable about the fish that was used for the sushi and where it came from. My only issue was that they offered the upgrade for the second course and didn’t tell us the price. It is on us for not asking but seeing an extra $120 charge per upgrade was not expected so just be on the lookout if you decided to upgrade the second course. Overall, Shuko has great fresh sushi but when compared to other omakase in New York City, it doesn’t blow anything out of the water. For me personally, I’d rather go to a place like Sushi Nakazawa where it’s $100 cheaper, the sushi is just as good and you get more pieces.
August 01 · Matthew ChenAn Omakase style sushi taste testing is a unique experience. You are leaving it up to the chef to pick out what you should eat. They serve one piece at a time. they wait for you to eat it and swallow it before they serve the next piece. so it doesn’t interfere with the taste of the last one. It comes with a hefty price but it’s something you have to try sometime in your life. The place had a nice atmosphere and it was small. the chef and the waitress was giving me some recommendations that taste amazing. They were awesome and extremely friendly.
