When considering Simon’s Cafe, it's important to look at both its strengths and the feedback from patrons. The cafe’s primary appeal lies in its convenience and straightforward offerings. For someone in downtown Houston who needs a fast and simple meal, Simon’s Cafe provides a viable solution. The menu focuses on basic comfort food, which can be a relief for those who prefer uncomplicated, hearty dishes. The accessibility features, including wheelchair access and free parking options, are a definite advantage, making it easy for a wide range of people to visit. The fact that it is a suitable spot for solo diners and is good for kids also broadens its appeal. The ability to grab a quick takeout order or to sit down for a no-fuss meal is a key selling point.
However, it's also important to consider some of the challenges mentioned in customer reviews. Some patrons have expressed dissatisfaction with the service, citing instances of rude staff and a general lack of hospitality from certain individuals. Complaints about "mean ass staff" and being "yelled at" highlight a significant concern regarding the customer service experience. Furthermore, some reviews mention that the protein portions are small and the sides are predominantly starches, which could be a concern for those looking for a more balanced meal. Ultimately, choosing Simon’s Cafe is a decision that balances its practical benefits—convenience, accessibility, and a simple menu—against potential drawbacks in service and food portions. It may be best suited for those who prioritize a quick, no-frills meal above all else and are willing to overlook potential issues with the staff.

April 22 · Cartez BeallThis has been my place to go, until today. I came here to read the comments and, to my surprise, most of them express today's experience. I got yelled at by the gentleman behind the counter. I was making a valid complaint, asking for a reasonable amount of protein on my plate. Ultimately, I decided to turn around and leave the plate half served before even paying for it. I'm sorry but not sorry, I'm not coming back to Simon's Cafe.
June 19 · Henry Perdomo👍 This restaurant is conveniently located in the Allen Center's section of the Downtown Tunnel system.👍 The employee appeared eager to serve, which encouraged me to stop by.👍 The mustard greens were excellent; I could have enjoyed two servings.👍 The pasta was cooked to perfection.🤜 However, the Southwest Chicken was disappointing. The chicken was dry, and the sauce did not suit my taste.
September 09 · The Thumbs CriticHosts are very mean and difficult to deal with. Above all they serve according to race even if you are standing in line. Food is under cooked.
October 26 · Abubakr GireisSimon is very friendly. His food tastes great. You can get a good meal and a can of soda for 11.00
