Choosing Tacombi means you are opting for a consistently delicious and authentic Mexican dining experience. The menu is packed with fantastic options, but a few items truly stand out and are worth highlighting. A great starting point is the Corn Esquites, a cup of corn topped with cotija cheese, mayo, and chili powder—a perfect appetizer to share.
When it comes to the main event, the tacos are the star. The Baja Crispy Fish Taco, voted "Absolute Best Fish Taco" by New York Magazine, is a must-try. Its combination of beer-battered cod, pico de gallo, and roasted poblano mayo is a winning formula. The Al Pastor Taco is also a fan favorite, featuring thinly sliced, marinated pork slow-roasted on a trompo, topped with pineapple, cilantro, and onions for a perfect balance of sweet and savory. For those who enjoy a richer flavor, the Beef Birria Taco, served with a flavorful consomé for dipping, is a standout. The menu also features excellent vegetarian and vegan options like the Black Bean & Sweet Potato Taco and the Vegana Plato, ensuring everyone can find something they'll love.
Beyond the food, the service at Tacombi is a significant reason to choose it. As one customer noted, the staff's common courtesy and decency stand out in the hospitality industry. A specific review highlighted a manager who went above and beyond by comping a customer's entire meal just for being accommodating and moving to a new table. This level of appreciation and a genuine desire to provide a great experience truly sets Tacombi apart. Even when there are minor service hiccups, the staff's positive attitude and attentiveness are quick to win customers over. This reflects a company culture that values kindness and hospitality, which is a rare and welcome treat in a busy city.
Don't forget to ask about their specials, like the "Taco Tuesdays" deal (buy one taco, get one free) which makes it an even better value. The to-go cocktail options, such as the Frozen Margarita, also add a fun and unique element to the dining experience. Whether you're dining alone, with a small group, or planning a big event, Tacombi’s combination of delicious food, great service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it a top choice for authentic Mexican cuisine in New York.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great customer service & hospitality. One ofthe best in NYC. I come here occasionally because it's close to work - which means the food is good. But I had to write a review because yesterday, Tuesday, 4/22/25, I experienced something rarely seen anymore in the hospitality industry - common courtesy and decency. They asked me to move to a different table to give way for a bigger group. I didn't mind because 1) they asked nicely, 2) I literally just sat down and ordered, my food wasn't even there yet; and 3) I was alone, and understood what it meant to a business, 4) they transferred me a spot I preferred.I thought nothing of it and waited for my food. While I was having my meal, the manager (a nice Asian-looking lady) came to me and thanked me for moving and that they've comped my whole meal. I didnt expect that but it was a very nice gesture from her which reflects their company's culture. The waiters were also very pleasant responsice and knew it. So I just told them when I was done and I left. Now, this location has earned a loyal custome from that one single act of kindness.Oh, if you don't know. Taco Tuesdays mean buy 1 taco, get 1 taco free!
April 23 · Dr. MaryThis could be the best Taco Combi IIIFFFFFF the service was good. Lol did I say good? If there was any service whatsoever. And I completely understand, they were switching shifts, but doesn’t give you the excuse to ignore your table. And you can tell right away who is an actual server and who is just there. The pm servers, when they took over they were nice and attentive… but it was too late because we were all done with our food. Also, we order esquites, they brought guacamole out (I don’t like avocado) and when we said it wasn’t for us the runner said “the server said you did order it” lol
July 30 · Lucy GomezReally enjoyed my visit here! Tried the corn esquites and avocado tostada—both were super fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I loved them so much I had to reorder! However, the vegana burrito was a bit of a letdown—it felt dry and lacked the flavor punch the other dishes had. Still, a great spot for tasty Mexican starters!
May 20 · Amulya MThe best Mexican vibe in NYC! I absolutely loved the décor — super original and full of personality. The food was delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The beer wasn’t super cold, but it didn’t take away from the overall great experience. Friendly staff and lively atmosphere. I’ll definitely come back!
June 24 · Déborah VoxStopped by for dinner around 7:30pm and was able to walk in without a reservation. This was my first time at this location but all the locations give off the same vibe. I got a classic margarita (originally wanted frozen but wasn’t available), 2 beef birria tacos and shared the chips and guac. The meal comes with two salsas (no free chips given and made to be used with your tacos). I enjoyed my beef birria tacos but wished the outer tortilla were crispier. Also, the broth cup was tiny so it was hard to dip my taco in it. It’s a good low key Mexican spot during the weekday. I’m sure it gets pretty busy during the weekends.
