When it comes to deciding what to order at Wanna Bao, the menu is filled with tempting options, but a few dishes consistently stand out. The most celebrated items are, without a doubt, the dumplings. The Pork Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and the Pork Crispy Bottom Bao are highly recommended by patrons and food critics alike. One reviewer even stated that the chicken soup dumplings and the spicy crispy chicken popcorn were both "delicious" and gave their visit a "solid 10 out of 10." The balance of flavor and quantity is a key selling point for the dumplings, making them a worthwhile choice for any first-time visitor.
Beyond the dumplings, the menu offers other highlights that have received glowing feedback. The "Dancing Beef" and "Crispy Spicy Chicken Popcorn" are mentioned in reviews as being particularly flavorful and a "must-try" with a perfect level of heat. The cold small plates, such as the Red Oil Dumplings, are also noted for their intense flavors that develop even further after a short rest. For a more unique experience, the "Jasmine Tea Smoked Duck" and "Whisky Shrimp on Fire" offer a taste of traditional dishes with an exciting twist. The variety of vegetarian options, including the "Dry-Fried Green Beans" and "Mapo Tofu," ensures that there is something for everyone.
While a few older reviews from early in the restaurant's history mentioned issues with service and food consistency, more recent feedback is overwhelmingly positive, highlighting a significant improvement over time. The staff's willingness to offer suggestions to first-time visitors is a testament to their dedication to providing a great experience. The restaurant's popularity, fueled by social media, is a clear indicator of its success in delivering on its promise of authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine. For Texans seeking a modern, flavorful, and welcoming place to enjoy Chinese food, Wanna Bao is a fantastic choice that lives up to the hype and promises a memorable dining experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Was in the area and was finally able to try out Wanna Bao. Glad we stopped in to check out this wonderful place.Service was great, helpful, and prompt. As we were first timers, asked questions and our server made great suggestions. While the red oil dumpling was a miss for me while hot. Once I got home, the flavors really came to life after sitting and cooling off. Reabsorbing all those wonderful flavors. The chicken dumplings were also delicious. It was just a great balance of flavor and quantity. But the star was definitely the Dancing Beef. Delicious flavor and with the perfect heat, you can't go wrong here. Can't wait to return and try more dishes. We will definitely be back. How was your visit?Which are your favorites?Until next time.
July 21 · Stoc Ish (Stocish)I found this place through a TikTok video, and honestly, I loved the food. They serve Chinese cuisine — their specialty is dumplings, but they also have other dishes. We ordered two orders of chicken filling soup dumplings and one order of spicy crispy chicken popcorn. Honestly, everything was delicious, and the service was excellent. I give it a solid 10 out of 10.
July 12 · Rogelio CanI don't know where to start. The waiters sitting and staring at their phone, the hostess who couldn't be more bothered that we interrupted her scrolling, or the food that made me go home to drink detox tea? We were hoping for a hit, but underwhelming would be an understatement. The vibe was dull. The food quality was poor. We barely ate. We both took one bite of the dumplings and were very turned off. While the waiters were friendly enough, their boredom really set the tone. Please listen to the critical reviews sprinkled in here... take your money elsewhere for a quality experience. This eatery presents itself as worthy, but it's not it.
April 12 · Fe P.The venue was actually pretty nice with a nice and orderly ambiance in business casual dress all around.I really enjoyed the food , but my overall opinion is that the food was good but not worth the price.Panfried pork shrimp dumpling: 10/10 very good , wish I had more. I think I would try pork next timeCrying tiger beef: 8/10: beef cut thinly but very saucy with the rice crackers underneathWater spinach : 9/10 classic stir fry vegetables, pretty good and freshMapo tofu : actually one of the best Mapo tofu with a hint of spice, nicely fresh tasting tofu, and a simplistic feel 10/10
April 01 · E YuSoup dumplings were spot on! The General Tso's Chicken was surprising. It was sweet but not over powering and the bit of spiciness to it was not overbearing. Would 100% eat here again. Parking was no issue. We showed up around 7pm on a Friday and had zero issues parking in a truck in their parking lot which is not the case with most of montrose.
