While New York City has countless Italian restaurants, Alaluna Ristorante stands out for several compelling reasons. The primary draw is the creative and unique menu, particularly the pescatarian offerings. A customer review highlighted the **Madai, Yellowtail Agnolotti, and Uni Linguine** as "creative and solid," noting the fresh and rich flavors. This commitment to unique dishes that go beyond the typical fare makes Alaluna a place for a true culinary adventure. If you're looking to explore a different side of Italian cuisine, one that prioritizes fresh seafood and innovative combinations, this is the place to be.
The atmosphere is another major selling point. The restaurant’s cozy, romantic, and trendy vibe makes it an ideal destination for a special evening. Whether you're celebrating an anniversary or simply want to have a memorable night out, the setting perfectly complements the high-quality food and drink. Speaking of drinks, the "great cocktails" and "great wine list" are significant highlights, ensuring that your meal is perfectly paired with the right beverage. The onsite bar is a wonderful amenity for a pre-dinner aperitif.
However, it's important to note that, as one customer mentioned, service can be inconsistent. While the food may be exceptional, a lengthy wait for entrees can "dampen an experience." Despite this, the restaurant has shown a willingness to address such issues, as evidenced by the offer of a complimentary dessert. This indicates a commitment to customer satisfaction. For those who prioritize a unique and flavorful menu, a romantic atmosphere, and a well-curated drink list, Alaluna is a fantastic choice, especially when planning ahead with a reservation to ensure a seamless experience. It’s a place where the food is truly the star of the show, making it a worthy destination for any New Yorker seeking a unique Italian meal.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great pescatarian Italian restaurant with nice ambiance and some unique menu items. Highly recommend the rock shrimp and madai crudo, the pizzetta and the tuna lasagna. Seacuterie was very special but would have liked the bites to be more substantial. Cocktails were also excellent
June 02 · Brian YehThe food was creative and solid. We started with the Madai, which was juicy and refreshing. The Yellowtail Agnolotti was pure smoked fish heaven, while the daily special of Uni Linguine was chock full of uni and sea briney flavor. So why only 3 stars? They clearly forgot our entrees and we waited over half an hour for them while tables that had been seated later than us got their full meals and finished them.We had to ask multiple times for an update on our entrees before they finally arrived, and it was clear from our unfriendly server that he didn't want to do anything to comp us--he kept apologizing but not providing a reason for the delay. However, when it was clear we weren't thrilled, he finally relented and offered us a complimentary dessert. We got the Chocolate Cheesecake, which was fine but forgettable.Too bad--there's some good stuff here, but lackluster service really dampens an experience.
July 09 · Josephine LeeDefinitely check out this new spot in the back of Travelers Poets and Friends. The focus is local pescatarian Italian food. The vegetable-forward appetizers were the best things we ate (blue oyster mushrooms, white asparagus, and the burrata were all phenomenal). They have an interesting “seacuterie” menu of cured fish we didn’t try but would try next time. Service was impeccable, atmosphere was great. 4 stars for the food - the yellowtail pasta was good but I wouldn’t order it again, and my mocktail was beautiful but not particularly flavorful.I definitely recommend checking this place out! They have a cool bar in the back with cool lighting - a cozy/funky spot to meet a friend or a date.
April 11 · Morgan BookheimerNo wonder "Seacuterie" isn't a thing, our whole table couldn't stomach any of it. It also came with vinegar drenched cauliflower in the middle, which was obviously disgusting. After this and two 2/10 apps I decided to opt for the $62 strip steak (to get as far away from the chefs seafood philosophy as possible, right? Wrong, I received grey brain matter that tasted like it was frozen 10 mins before they popped it into the microwave, and it had crispy skin like a bird? The servers took our food back and comped the meal like they knew how bad it was themselves, really sad actually. Felt like I was on a hidden camera prank show. Great location and prime real estate, but the food is better off being given to rodents. All had stomach issues afterwards. Can anybody tell me what's on this plate?
March 03 · Rob McCullochThe food and cocktails were amazing! Our server was extremely friendly and welcoming. Pasta dishes were excellent!
