BCD Tofu House Introduce
In the heart of Manhattan's vibrant Koreatown lies a culinary gem that has become a staple for both locals and tourists alike: BCD Tofu House. Named after the Bukchang Dong district in Korea, where its founder, Hee Sook Lee, honed her craft, this restaurant is a testament to the power of a single, perfected dish. While the menu offers a wide variety of Korean classics, the star of the show is, without a doubt, the "soon tofu" or sundubu-jjigae—a spicy, bubbling, soft tofu stew that is as comforting as it is flavorful.
BCD Tofu House has earned its reputation not just for its signature tofu soup but for its commitment to serving authentic, high-quality Korean food in a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant manages to strike a unique balance between a casual, cozy setting and a trendy, bustling hub, making it suitable for a variety of dining occasions. Whether you're a college student grabbing a quick meal, a family looking for a satisfying dinner, or a group of friends wanting to explore the flavors of Koreatown, BCD Tofu House provides a delicious and memorable experience that has guests coming back for more.
Located at 5 W 32nd St, New York, NY 10001, BCD Tofu House is in the very heart of Koreatown, a neighborhood famed for its dynamic food scene and vibrant energy. Its central location makes it incredibly convenient and accessible from all parts of the city. The restaurant is just a short walk from major transit hubs, including Penn Station and Herald Square, providing easy access via multiple subway lines (B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, W, and 1, 2, 3 trains). This connectivity ensures that it’s a go-to spot for anyone, whether you're working in Midtown, shopping in the area, or simply exploring the city.
The restaurant also prides itself on its accessibility. BCD Tofu House features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, restroom, and seating, ensuring that all diners can enjoy their meal in comfort. While street parking can be challenging and is often paid in this busy area, the ease of public transportation makes it the most popular way to visit. The restaurant's popularity means there's often a wait, especially during peak dining hours. However, solo diners and smaller groups often find a table much more quickly, and the excellent food is widely considered to be worth the wait.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Went out for dinner with friends and had to wait over 40 minutes for a table of six. This place seems better suited for smaller groups (2–4 people)—otherwise, expect a long wait. That said, the food was excellent! They offered a few complimentary snacks, which was a nice touch and gave us a preview of the menu. The standout dish was definitely the Seafood Tofu Soup—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. If you’re not in a rush and enjoy good food, it’s worth the visit. Just plan ahead if you’re coming with a bigger group.
July 27 · Naveen KumarIf you're a fan of Korean food, BCD Tofu House in NYC's Koreatown is a must-visit! Located right in the heart of the neighborhood, this spot delivers authentic and delicious Korean cuisine with great service, really fast service (appreciated). The bulgogi and tteok-bokki are both excellent, flavorful, well-cooked, and be warned: seriously spicy! The kimchi and the spicy options really bring the heat, so come prepared if you're not used to intense spice levels. One of the best things is that there's usually no wait for solo diners or pairs, but if you're coming in a group of three or more, expect a bit of a line. Still, it's well worth it.The quality-to-price ratio is fantastic, around $48 for a shared appetizer, a full entrée, drink, and all the classic Korean side dishes included.A solid choice whether you're a local or just visiting. I’ll definitely be back!
May 31 · Cassandre NvllThe tofu was super tasty, and the appetizers had a great variety! The staff were really friendly, and I’ll definitely be back. Expect about a 30-minute wait at busy times, but you can usually walk in when it’s quieter. They turn tables pretty quickly overall.
May 18 · R LFirst of all, a lot of customers, waited around 30 min outside in the rain, but I’m fine with it because I was waiting for my friend, but due the fact that they don’t take reservations it might be a hassle if you can’t wait up to 30 min to an hour outside.Second, good atmosphere, decent services, the waitress was fast and gave us water when needed, but forgot to give us eggs that are included in the combo, but it’s totally fine and understandable since she had to serve multiple tables. Finally, the food tasted good, especially the fish, insanely crispy on the outside and tender in the inside, the tofu and rice are amazing too, prob one of the best rice I’ve tasted, not overly moist and perfectly cooked, the sea food pancakes were amazing too very flavorful and crispy would be perfect if the portion can be a little bigger.Overall, would recommend if you don’t mind waiting and want some nice hot tofu pot and rice plus cold dishes that are fairly priced in the combo, would revisit.-sawa
June 11 · koresawaHad an amazing Korean dining experience in NYC! I came to BCD Tofu House with my Korean friend because he brought me while I was visiting New York. The tofu was absolutely delicious☝🏻full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Our server, Pan, was really great and very knowledgeable about the menu. She explained everything in detail and helped us choose the best dishes. It was a great experience, and I’d definitely come back again! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Korean dining experience.
