For New Yorkers tired of over-priced, over-hyped dining experiences, Cheeky Sandwiches offers a refreshing return to basics: delicious, honest comfort food in a laid-back setting.
Cheeky Sandwiches has built its reputation on a small but mighty menu, with each sandwich crafted to perfection. The star of the show for many is the "Beef Sandwich," which one customer described as "simply amazing." Another popular choice is the "Chicken Sandwich," which is praised for its incredibly flavorful, well-prepared chicken served on a top-notch buttermilk biscuit. The beauty of their sandwiches lies in their simplicity and the quality of the ingredients. The toppings are designed to complement, not disguise, the main protein, ensuring that the flavor of the chicken or beef remains front and center. For those who prefer a meat-free option, the "Grass Sandwich" (with goat cheese) and "Veggie Roll" offer equally delicious and well-thought-out alternatives. The menu also includes classic sides like "Zapp's Chips," as well as homemade treats such as "Ben Yay's" (donut-like sweet snacks) and "Bread Pudding," adding to the overall comforting experience. The prices are notably affordable, with sandwiches well under $10, making it a "new LES staple" for those seeking a great meal that won't break the bank.

The owners and workers clearly take pride in their craft, and this passion is evident in the quality of each freshly prepared sandwich. The unique, no-frills exterior, with its "broken windows and pale color," as one reviewer humorously put it, only adds to its authentic, hidden-gem appeal. This is not a place for a fussy, formal meal; it’s a place for a quick, delicious bite that feels like a real find. The cozy interior offers a single table and seats at the bar, creating an intimate and welcoming space. Whether you're grabbing a late-night bite, a quick lunch, or a full breakfast, the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service make it a perfect spot. It's a testament to the fact that in a city with endless options, a place that focuses on doing one thing exceptionally well—and with heart—can build a loyal and dedicated following.
Cheeky Sandwiches' menu is a concise and delicious offering of comfort food staples. The "All Day Menu" includes a selection of sandwiches, sides, and desserts that are perfect for any time of day. The sandwich options range from the hearty "Beef Sandwich" and "Pork Sandwich" to the flavorful "Chicken Sandwich" and "Sea Poboy" (with shrimp or oyster). ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We were hungry and wanted to grab a bite, picked a restaurant and were heading there but half-way realized that nearby there is this cheap sandwich place with extremely good reviews. We decided to give it a chance and it was the right choice! It took a moment to find the place because there is no banner or sign, also the entrance looks somewhat abandoned - broken windows and pale color. It took some courage to come in, but it was worth it. The place is very casual and relaxed, the atmosphere inside is great: music, wall paintings, friendly staff. We ordered two sandwiches: beef and grass (goat cheese), paid totally 17 usd. They both were freshly prepared and tasted very good but the beef one was simply amazing 😻. We also got a complementary donut-like sweet snack. We were eating inside at their only table, but they also have seats at the bar. The staff was very nice and polite.Overall, I can absolute recommend this place, the food is great, as well as the atmosphere.
May 18 · veronikaA little hard to find but well worth the search. The service was fast and pleasant. You can tell the owners/workers take pride in what they are doing. I got the chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint. The biscuits are top notch and the flavor on the chicken is really good. So often you get chicken sandwiches that are dressed up with all kinds of things that disguise the lack of flavor in the chicken itself. The toppings complimented the chicken, leaving it front and center. Can you get a better chicken sandwich in the city? I’m sure you can find a few somewhere. Can you get a better chicken sandwich for under $7? Absolutely not. A new LES staple
August 27 · Taylor AndersonA wonderful hidden gem. It’s so easy to miss the door to the shop. I think I walked by twice before I was able to find it. The service is great. The woman at the counter was so friendly and nice. I had the shrimp po boy sandwich and it was so damn tasty and fresh. The French bread was nice hot and soft. The shrimp had great flavors and the veggies were all fresh. She also gave me a beignet to try and it was delicious. They have bar seating and one table on the inside. Definitely coming back to try the chicken biscuit sandwich.
July 30 · Jonathan BatistaMy Chicken Biscuit sandwich was straight fire... especially because I got a side of hot sauce that was hot hot hot! Yummy!!! Recommendations did not steer me wrong when it came to this place. Also is a taste of New Orleans with a fresh beignet with every order!!
June 10 · Sarah RobinsonI LOVE THIS PLACE! This is your local hole-in-the-wall sandwich joint. There’s no signage and it’s covered in graffiti and looks abandoned. I walked right past it 4 times before I finally found it and it was well worth the hunt. Not to be hyperbolic, but this was probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I had the short rib, but the pork sandwich sounded amazing too, so I’ll definitely be back to try that. There was no wait and I was in and out for under $10 - almost unheard of in NYC. I just can’t say enough good things.
