Customer feedback provides a mixed but insightful view of the City Barbeque experience in Westerville. One review, which was highly critical, described a less-than-satisfactory experience. The customer ordered a three-meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, and a chicken quarter. They reported that the brisket was "more than half fat," the pulled pork was "cold," and the cornbread was "dry." The greens were also criticized for being "salty" with "a lot of stems." The reviewer felt that for the price, the meal was "less than average" and would "prefer a big Mac over this." This feedback points to potential inconsistencies in food quality that can impact the customer experience.
In contrast, another review provided a very positive perspective. This customer, who visited with a group of friends, had a great experience, stating that the "food and service here was great." They specifically enjoyed their brisket, beans, and cornbread, noting that "nothing was dry and everything was hot." The review also highlighted the cleanliness of the restaurant and the well-stocked paper towels, indicating that the dining environment was pleasant and well-maintained. City Barbeque Reviews
I got the three meat; chicken quarter (they were out of pulled chicken) pulled pork and brisket, 19.95 plus 3 dollars for the brisket, two sides; greens and cornbread. The brisket was three small pieces, poor quality beef that was more than half fat. If you look closely at the picture you can see just how fatty it was. The pulled pork was cold, but tasted good, really small portion. The chicken was really good,The cornbread was on the dry side, the greens were a lot of stems and very salty.Overall, if the food had been good the price might have been alright. With only one thing being good, the chicken, three things being not good and one thing being a really small portion, 23 dollars was really high for a less than average meal. I rarely eat McDonald's and would actually prefer a big Mac over this. I'm positive I won't be returning for this unless their food really changes. That brisket was so fatty, there was more put back on the plate than consumed. Just not good
Jun 30, 2025 · Matt WilliamsWent with a group of friends to eat and hang out. The food and service here was great and we all enjoyed ourselves. My brisket, beans, and cornbread were all good. Nothing was dry and everything was hot. Noone else in the group had any complaints that I heard. Paper towels at the tables were kept well stocked and the place was quite clean. A little bit of a cool draft where I sat near the corner.
Feb 09, 2025 · Squirrelly FursonaNicely decorated and friendly staff .. ordered the LoLo Sandwich Meal with a side of Baked Beans .. the BBQ pork sandwich and slaw were both very good but the beans needed more sweetness, should've gotten the green beans instead .. I mixed the sweet tea and lemonade for an Arnold Palmer and it tasted fantastic .. overall, positive dining experience so I will stop in again but will stay away from the baked beans 🙂
Aug 01, 2025 · Quan NguyenI’ve given City Barbecue in Columbus more than a few chances, and unfortunately, it just doesn’t deliver anymore. Every time I go, the food is lukewarm at best. That’s especially frustrating when you’re paying a premium for what should be hot, freshly smoked BBQ. The meats—brisket, pulled pork, ribs—are consistently overcooked and dry, lacking moisture and that deep, smoky flavor you expect from a barbecue spot that charges these kinds of prices. And speaking of prices—everything is an upcharge. Want a side? That’s extra. Want more sauce? Also extra. Even basic things that should be standard feel like nickel-and-dime add-ons. The sandwich buns aren’t toasted, which makes the whole thing fall apart into a soggy mess halfway through eating. It’s just not well thought out.The service is another issue. Staff often seem distracted or indifferent. I’ve had missing items in orders, incorrect sides, and long waits even when the place isn’t busy. You can tell there’s a lack of leadership and quality control in the kitchen and the front of house.Columbus deserves better. For a city with great food, it’s shocking how disappointing this place has become. If someone opens a new BBQ joint with real attention to quality, pricing, and service, City BBQ’s days will be numbered.
Aug 06, 2025 · Michael LewisVisiting Columbus for a few days, stopped in here with the family for a quick lunch - delicious. My wife had the dirty bird sandwich with hand cut fries - definitely an order again item. The rest of us had brisket, pulled pork, green beans, baked beans, hush puppies, and the corn pudding. Everyone was pleased with their food. Some fun bottled soda options at the front. Cashier was friendly, offered suggestions, and food came out quickly.Tried the limited time strawberries and cream cobbler (which is loaded with strawberries, not sparingly like some spots other cobblers) and the only thing I’m upset about is strawberry cobbler hasn’t had its spot in the limelight before now, peaches and blueberries need to step aside.Dejuan was working and had a really positive attitude. Keep it up!
