In the bustling landscape of Midtown Manhattan, where fast-paced life often leaves little room for a mindful meal, Dishes stands out as a true haven for healthy and delicious food. More than just a sandwich shop, Dishes is a full-service food provider dedicated to offering a wide variety of fresh, organic, and healthy options for busy New Yorkers. Situated in the iconic Citibank Building, it has become a go-to spot for office workers and locals seeking a quick bite that doesn't compromise on quality or flavor.
Dishes prides itself on its commitment to providing an exceptional culinary experience, from its breakfast offerings to its lunch market table. The menu is expansive, featuring everything from classic breakfast sandwiches and fresh-squeezed juices to a diverse selection of signature sandwiches and daily hot entrees. Its focus on organic and high-quality ingredients sets it apart, offering a refreshing alternative to standard fast-casual fare.
While the reviews offer a mixed perspective on value and some aspects of service, the core product—the food itself—receives praise, particularly for its excellent breakfast quality and overall good lunch options. One customer noted that the "Breakfast quality is excellent," highlighting the care and attention that goes into each meal. Dishes' atmosphere is casual and geared toward a speedy, efficient experience, making it perfect for solo dining and those on a tight schedule.
This article will provide an in-depth look at Dishes, exploring its prime location, the extensive range of services it offers, and the specific features that make it a compelling choice for a healthy and satisfying meal in the heart of the city.

Dishes is located at the prominent address of the Citibank Building, 399 Park Ave Frnt 2, New York, NY 10022, USA. This places it right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, making it a central and convenient destination for a vast number of office workers and residents. The shop's entrance is on the corner of Park Avenue and 54th Street, a short walk from major landmarks such as the Seagram Building, the Waldorf Astoria, and Grand Central Terminal.
The location is well-connected and easily accessible via public transportation. The E and M subway lines stop at the Lexington Avenue/53rd Street station, and the 6 line stops at the 51st Street station, both of which are within a very short walk. Numerous bus routes also operate in the vicinity, making it a highly convenient spot regardless of where you're coming from.
The restaurant offers a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that it can accommodate a wide range of customers. Given its position within a major office building, it is designed for a seamless, quick-service experience that is ideal for the busy Midtown crowd. The high-traffic location means there is usually a wait, especially during peak lunch hours, but the efficient service is designed to handle the volume.

Dishes provides a wide and varied menu that goes far beyond a typical sandwich shop, catering to a diverse set of tastes and dietary needs.
Breakfast: The breakfast menu is particularly extensive and popular. It includes a variety of breakfast sandwiches and wraps, such as the classic Bacon and Egg and a variety of create-your-own options. The menu also features a seasonal market table with items like Organic Oatmeal, Scrambled Eggs, and assorted fresh fruit. For a quick morning treat, you can also grab Balthazar's Croissants and a variety of coffee drinks.
Lunch: The lunch menu is centered around two main offerings: the Signature Sandwiches and the hot market table. The sandwich list is impressive, with options like the Pecan Chicken BLT and the Vietnamese Chicken Bahn Mi. The market table offers a rotating selection of hot entrees and salads sold by the pound, including Moroccan Roasted Chicken, Shrimp Fajitas, and a range of flavorful vegetable sides.
Healthy and Organic Options: Dishes focuses heavily on providing healthy and organic choices. The menu features numerous vegetarian, low-fat, and healthy options, from fresh squeezed juices and smoothies to organic oat granola and a variety of salads. The use of "Local Cage Free Veggie Fed" eggs for breakfast and "Free Bird, Antibiotic Free" chicken for lunch speaks to their commitment to quality ingredients.
Beverages and Desserts: The drink menu is vast, featuring a full range of coffee drinks from Espresso to Mochaccino, as well as a wide variety of fresh juices and smoothies. For a sweet treat, you can choose from desserts like Belgian Valrhona Chocolate Pudding, a "Gluten Free-Vegan" baked doughnut, and a selection of freshly baked cookies and brownies.
Delivery and Takeout: For the ultimate convenience, Dishes offers both takeout and delivery services. This is a crucial service for many office workers in the area who may not have time to dine in, allowing them to enjoy a high-quality meal at their desk.

Several key features make Dishes a standout option for food in Midtown.
Extensive Menu Variety: The most notable feature of Dishes is the sheer breadth and depth of its menu. It offers a much wider range of options than a typical sandwich shop, effectively functioning as a one-stop-shop for a complete meal. From a customizable breakfast to a full-service lunch market table, the variety is a major draw for repeat customers.
Focus on Healthy and Organic Ingredients: In a city where quick bites are often synonymous with unhealthy options, Dishes' focus on healthy, organic, and high-quality ingredients is a major highlight. This commitment allows customers to feel good about what they are eating, even when they are in a rush. This is a point of distinction that appeals to a health-conscious crowd.
High-Quality Food: Despite some feedback about pricing, the quality of the food itself is a consistent highlight. One customer review specifically noted the "excellent" breakfast quality. Dishes' ability to provide delicious, well-prepared meals on a fast-casual basis is a testament to its operational model.
Prime Midtown Location: Situated in the Citibank Building, Dishes is strategically located to serve a dense population of office workers. Its position makes it a convenient and reliable choice for a weekday meal, and its popularity is a direct result of this accessibility.
Efficient Service Model: Dishes is built for speed and efficiency. The "quick bite" model is designed to handle a large volume of customers, minimizing wait times and ensuring a smooth transaction. For those with a busy schedule, this is a major benefit that makes it a top choice for lunch.

In a competitive market like Midtown, what makes Dishes truly worth choosing is its unique combination of quality, variety, and convenience.
First and foremost, the extensive and health-conscious menu is a significant draw. You're not limited to a single type of food; you can choose from a wide array of options, from a classic sandwich to a customized salad or a hot entree from the market table. This versatility is perfect for repeat customers who want variety in their meals, as well as for those with specific dietary preferences. The emphasis on healthy and organic dishes is a major benefit for anyone who wants to eat well without having to sacrifice a quick and easy meal.
Second, its service model is a key advantage. Dishes is designed for the modern New Yorker who needs a quality meal delivered efficiently. Whether you're picking up a quick takeout order or having a meal delivered to your office, the process is streamlined to be as convenient as possible. While there may be a wait during peak hours, the fast service ensures that the line moves quickly.
Finally, the quality of the food itself, particularly the breakfast and signature sandwiches, makes it a compelling choice. While some may find the pricing to be on the higher end, the quality of the ingredients and the overall taste justify the cost for many. As one reviewer noted, the breakfast is "excellent," and the overall food quality is "good." This makes Dishes a place you can rely on for a consistently satisfying meal, a valuable quality in a city with so many options.
For a New York City lunch spot that offers a wide range of healthy, delicious, and convenient options, Dishes is a place you should definitely consider.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I felt robbed…. Paid 24$ for this subpar lunch. I will never go there again.
July 14 · Harry SeenauthBreakfast quality is excellent and lunch is good though everything is overpriced. All packaging and boxing, even bags are all heavy duty plastic . Paper is not even a choice if you ask during lunch hours (oatmeal boxes can be used during breakfast). Feedback form on their website is faulty and staff refuses to pass on message to management/ doesn’t care.
May 26 · GT NYThe food is DELICIOUS! It’s buffet style and is consistently good. However, the prices will sneak up on you. Each time I’ve been here, I’ve paid well over $30 for food. While it’s really good, the prices are really bad. It’s definitely not a place to eat at multiple times a week if you work in the area mainly because of the cost.Otherwise, there’s a huge variety of great food for everyone. From fresh salads, sandwiches, and desserts, to the buffet bar.
August 09 · Samelia JIt pains me to write this because I really do like dishes and we order catering from them all the time. However, I ordered lunch from there yesterday and was extremely disappointed in the quality and size of my lunch! I ordered the Chinese tahini noodles and was very underwhelmed. I also paid $14.70 after taxes and this felt like only a snack. It was very, very salty as well. Would not recommend getting pickup for lunch, portion size was way too small and very salty. For larger orders, I would say they are better.
May 03 · AmeliaPrice is insane! This meal cost me nearly $30. If i knew how much the prices rose, I would not have come here. I haven’t been to this location in about 10 years, but this insane pricing makes for a terrible value proposition. The food itself is decent.
