Doaba Deli Introduce
New York City is a global mosaic of cultures and cuisines, but even in a city so vast, finding truly authentic, home-style Indian food can be a challenge. In the heart of the Upper West Side, Doaba Deli stands out as a genuine culinary gem, offering a taste of North India and the Punjab region that is both authentic and deeply comforting. This is not a high-end, upscale Indian restaurant; it's a "hole-in-the-wall" establishment, a deli that provides the kind of honest, flavorful food you'd expect to find in an Indian home, not a commercial kitchen. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, allowing the food to speak for itself. It has built a loyal following among a diverse crowd, including college students, local professionals, and members of the Indian community who are all seeking the same thing: a genuine taste of home. The restaurant's focus on vegetarian cuisine ensures a rich and varied menu of plant-based dishes that are flavorful, filling, and nourishing. It’s the perfect place for a quick bite, a satisfying lunch, or a hearty dinner that feels like it was cooked with love. The friendly, family-run nature of the business adds to its charm, making every visit feel personal and welcoming.
Doaba Deli’s reputation is built on the fact that it doesn't try to alter its food to fit a Western palate. The restaurant's appeal extends beyond just the food; it's also known for being incredibly affordable, offering great value for money in a city where dining out can be expensive. This combination of authenticity, flavor, and price has solidified Doaba Deli’s place as a cherished institution in the New York food scene, a testament to the fact that great food doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag or a fancy setting.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Original Indian food taste. Being Indian and dining in most Indian restaurants in nyc I assure you, this is how food taste in Indian homes (not the restaurant). High end restaurants alter the food taste to fit the customer’s taste which is way different than original taste. If you are craving for original Indian food taste this is the right place. Space is small and tables are less. Consider ordering online if it’s rush hours or expecting great hosting experience. Rate is very low and affordable. I will recommend 10$ Thali and/or 5$ aloo paratha with curd and mango pickle if you are eating Indian food first time. It’s not a fancy restaurant and it’s run by an old couple. Restaurant is open and all foods available from lunch time to late night. It’s a pure vegetarian restaurant, no meat and no wines/bear is served.
March 23 · Dr. Chandra KishoreDelicious home style Indian food tried the thali for 10$ was completely worth it. Would recommend to anyone missing home cooked food. The people at the counter we super kind and sweet.
August 10 · ABZBEST Indian food I’ve had since being in NYC for a month. I went two night in a row it was so good and I’m a meat eater but the flavors and spice is so perfect that I do not need the meat! The owner and his wife are so kind. You can tell they put all of their love into the food!
August 02 · Simone JonesThey make paratha and roti like my mom. I hope they succeed for years to come. Love the daal.
May 28 · Mahnoor AmirFood was super tasty but too spicy for me. Definitely only eat here if you have high spice tolerance
