Electric Burrito Introduce
In a city overflowing with dining options, finding a spot that truly stands out can be a challenge. But for New Yorkers craving a taste of Southern California, Electric Burrito has become a beloved destination. Tucked away on the vibrant St. Marks Place, this casual, no-frills Mexican restaurant has carved out a dedicated following by focusing on one thing: a perfectly crafted burrito.
Unlike many other burrito shops, Electric Burrito specializes in the "California-style" burrito—a hearty, flavorful creation that swaps out the traditional rice for golden french fries. This unique twist, combined with fresh ingredients and generous portions, has earned it a reputation as one of the best spots in the city for this style of Mexican comfort food. Whether you're a local college student grabbing a quick lunch or someone seeking a late-night fix, this is the place to go when you need a meal that's both filling and full of flavor.
The atmosphere is bustling, reflecting its popularity among locals and visitors alike. It’s a place for quick, delicious meals, not a long, sit-down dining experience, and that’s precisely its charm. The focus is always on the food, which is prepared with care and served with speed. Electric Burrito proves that you don't need a fancy setting to deliver an unforgettable meal.
---Electric Burrito is located at the heart of the bustling East Village, a neighborhood known for its eclectic food scene and vibrant street life. You'll find it at 81 St Marks Pl, New York, NY 10003, USA, a prime location that's easy to reach from all over Manhattan. Its central spot makes it a convenient stop for a quick lunch, a pre-show dinner, or a post-bar snack.
The restaurant's design is what many would call a "bare-bones burrito shop," focused entirely on efficiency and serving delicious food. There is limited seating, with a few stools facing the wall, so it's best suited for those looking to grab their meal and go. This takeout-friendly model is perfect for New Yorkers on the move, but it doesn't diminish the quality of the food one bit.
The location is easily accessible by various modes of public transportation. Several subway stations are within walking distance, including the 6 at Astor Place, the N, R, W at 8th Street-NYU, and the L at 14th Street-Union Square, making it an easy trip from almost anywhere in the city. If you're driving, be aware that parking is limited to paid street parking, which can be challenging to find in this busy area.
---Electric Burrito is all about convenience and satisfying your cravings, no matter the time of day. They offer a range of services designed to get you your food quickly and efficiently.
Dine-In: While seating is limited, you can grab one of the few stools and enjoy your meal right there. It's a great option for a quick, casual bite, especially for solo diners.

Catering: For events, office parties, or group gatherings, they offer catering services. Their burritos are a hit for a crowd, ensuring everyone gets a hearty, satisfying meal.
What makes Electric Burrito stand out in a city full of Mexican food spots? It’s a combination of their unique style, fresh ingredients, and customer-focused approach.
California-Style Burritos: Their claim to fame is the authentic California burrito, which replaces rice with french fries. This creates a satisfyingly unique texture and flavor profile that has won over even the most discerning burrito connoisseurs. The carne asada fries are a fan favorite, too, offering all the best parts of the burrito in a bowl.
Fresh and High-Quality Ingredients: Customers consistently praise the freshness of the ingredients. The meat, for example, is cut in-house, ensuring it's never frozen and always flavorful. You can taste the difference in every bite.
Generous Portions: One thing you’ll hear time and again from customers is how huge the burritos are. They are a true meal in a tortilla, ensuring you won't leave hungry. This makes them a fantastic value for the price.
All-Day Options: Whether you're in the mood for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Electric Burrito has you covered. Their breakfast burritos are available all day, so you can get your fix of eggs, bacon, and fries whenever you want.
Casual and Welcoming Atmosphere: The vibe is laid-back and casual, attracting a crowd of college students and neighborhood locals. It’s a friendly and approachable spot where the focus is on good food and good times.
Late-Night Food: With a location on St. Marks Place, Electric Burrito is a perfect spot for those late-night cravings. They serve up satisfying comfort food that hits the spot after a long day or night out.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great place for a burrito! Very small store with stools that face the wall, immediately walking in, what caught my eye was that the meat was super fresh! The guy in there was cutting the meat like it was a butcher and I just knew it would be good just from seeing that and knowing they don’t use frozen meat. I got the Hot Rod + my girlfriend got the Johnny, both were delicious. Coming from a person that eats a lot, the burritos here are huge! Left very full and they were very tasty, I loved the breakfast burrito but next time probably would just get the regular breakfast burrito no bacon, with the hot rod it felt like a lot was in it but it was still great
March 12 · Usamah NelsonBare-bones burrito shop service was fast. I was able to order on the app. Loved my chicken California burrito worth coming to, but no real place to sit except for some basic stools. I wasn’t expecting a luxury sit down restaurant this was perfect for lunch.
April 16 · aaron grotasMaybe I just got unlucky…But this was genuinely the most disappointing burrito I’ve ever had in my life. Every single component of it was so incredibly dry and the entire thing just lacked flavor. The steak was cooked BEYOND well done and was nearly impossible to chew. I ate it there, and somehow the rice and cheese were already cold (the cheese hadn’t melted). The steak wasn’t particularly fresh either. The fries didn’t add anything to the experience either. Considering I paid over $15 for it, I expected something better than what I could get at Taco Bell. This managed to be far worse.
July 29 · Sam CrowsonFinally a place that is close to the Mexican in San Diego. Tortilla is as if it was Amazon prime aired from Chula Vista. Really good staff no it’s not a generic burrito spot
July 02 · Y SUnfortunately a 20 dollar burrito is par for the course in Manhattan. However, if you’re gonna get one. I would recommend this. I ordered the cali burrito with beef. And I gotta say. Very flavorful. Beautifully seasoned. I could eat it without salsa and love it but the salsa is a great addition. I recommend. It gets p crowded there so I recommend getting carry out and gobbling up your burrito in a nearby park.
