★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I can came here during restaurant week and had a great dinner. The star of the show was the gumbo as you’d expect at a place with gumbo in their name. Great depth of flavor, nice spice and perfectly cooked. Had the bread pudding for dessert and it was the perfect finish!
August 16 · ReedHTook a long ride all the way from Astoria Queens with very high expectations for this place. The ambience was great…the decor the live Jazz music all made it even more exciting to taste the food and drinks…our hats off to the chef!!! He did his thing right in front of us (we sat at the bar) the FOOD 😋was exquisite!!!!! The man made heaven on a plate 🥰On the other hand the drinks felt watered down and unbalanced … did the 90 minute happy hour. 😏 no garnish barely any taste of alcohol…perhaps the bartender had an off day?….
July 26 · Jessica MoncayoLet me tell your something run.. don't walk to this restaurant! My best friend is a regular at this establishment, so she brought me here to celebrate my birthday. I was highly impressed! If you're craving great cuisine that reminds you of your trip to New Orleans, then this is the restaurant for you. The decor, the ambiance, the FOOD! I was not expecting large portions and everything was well prepared and flavorful. What sealed the deal was the bread pudding OH MY GOODNESS! I asked my bff to pause our conversation just so that I can savor this dessert. Not only was the food immaculate, so was our waiter. I was introduced to the owner who is a wonderful human being and his staff was spectacular. I'll never forget this experience!
July 18 · RushenaStopped in for a quick dinner at the bar and was blown away. Tried the shrimp in the main course (forgot the sauce as it was so difficult to choose between so many tempting options) and crab legs — rich, buttery, and packed with bold flavor. The heat hits first, but then the deep, layered taste of Southern cooking really shines through. Loved watching the chefs prepare fresh sauces right in front of us. Warm Southern hospitality, cool vibe, and seriously good Creole seafood. A must visit if you’re into bold, flavorful dishes.
June 30 · Geetanjali ChughThis is my second time at File Gumbo, and honestly, it's the staff-Kevin, Hillary, Tim, and Maddie-that make the experience unforgettable. Kevin especially stands out with his exceptional hospitality, deep knowledge of the gumbo, and talent in the kitchen. He really brought the meal to life through his amazing customer service.Truth be told, I only came back because the staff is so incredible. I genuinely thought this place was Black-owned-turns out it's not. But I digress.Their is a jazz band on the weekend
