We got here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. I was intrigued when seeing Pho Bac (which was an indication of Northern Pho) on the menu so I decided to try it, along with Bun Cha and Cuu La Lot (Lamb meat roll).Service was decent, although we did have to wait quite a bit for our food. The lamb dish was definitely fusion-style. It was different than traditional Beef one, but acceptable. Bun Cha was pretty good. The fish sauce was less sweet than other places that I’ve been to. I was hopeful about the Pho Bac but it turned out to be a disappointment. This Pho dish is nothing authentic. In fact, it was just a fusion attempt on an existing southern Pho soup. It felt a bit misleading, since it was not northern Pho. Curious, I asked if the owner was Vietnamese, and the waitress told me no. It confirmed my suspicion that this place was ran by someone not from northern Vietnam, but attempted to create some fusion-style northern Viet dishes.Overall the ambiance of this place is kinda cool and interesting. Food was okay, mediocre and not authentic at all. If you want a different approach on Viet food, this place is decent choice. But don’t come here expecting any authentic taste.

Really tasty food and lovely service! The house special pho (pho dac biet) was rich, flavorful, and fantastic. I also tried the salted lime soda, which was refreshing and tart. We had the clams (ngao xao) and the summer rolls with grilled chicken sausage (goi cuon nem nuong), which were both fresh and delicious. The lemongrass chicken wings (canh ga chien) were crispy with great flavor. Definitely would come back!

If you love Vietnamese food and want to try a place that’s a cut above the rest, then come to Hanoi House. I came here on a Saturday when the weather didn’t know whether to be sunny or raining. In some cases it was both. We sat outside bc the sun was out but as a storm cloud rolled in we were immediately ushered inside by the friendliest and most attentive staff I’ve encountered in a long time. They were so apologetic having to move us and offered to remake any dishes.The pho is as always very delicious. It’s better than so many viet places I’ve been to in and around NYC.Thank you to the staff team for a great experience.

A st. Mark’s delight! $10 cocktails. $8 wine. $4 beer happy hour. Plenty of seating. Pho was so good and they can split it between two people. Fresh rolls with peanut sauce were amazing. $23 per person! Really really great viet food that is homey and on a beautiful street.

We came here because we were craving Hanoi-style bun cha from our visit to Vietnam last year. Hanoi House does not disappoint!! We also loved the egg coffee and pork spring rolls. The lively atmosphere with the weekend sidewalk seating is incredible and a great way to enjoy a meal in the city.
