What is worth choosing
When considering what to choose at Island Spice Grill, the menu offers several standout options that are emblematic of Caribbean cuisine. The various **Mac & Cheese** dishes are particularly noteworthy, with options like **Oxtail Mac** and **Shrimp Mac** offering a creative and delicious twist on a classic comfort food. These dishes promise a rich and flavorful experience that is both hearty and satisfying. The **Jerk Meats**, including the **Jerk Pork Burger** and **Jerk Pork Meal**, are also key items to consider, as jerk is a cornerstone of Jamaican cooking.
The seafood offerings, such as the **Red Snapper Heal**, provide a lighter yet equally flavorful option. For a taste of something sweet, the dessert menu includes classic Caribbean-inspired baked goods like **Carrot Cake** and **Rum Cake**. The inclusion of unique items like **Mango Seamoss** on the beverage menu also points to an authentic Caribbean experience.
However, it is crucial to address the customer feedback provided. One review mentioned issues with undercooked jerk chicken, small portions, and pricing discrepancies. While this is a negative experience for that individual, it's worth considering that food quality and service can sometimes be inconsistent, particularly with small, mobile businesses. The other review highlights a significant issue with pricing transparency and perceived overcharging. For a new customer, it would be prudent to ask for pricing confirmation before ordering, especially if using a credit card, to avoid any surprises.
Despite these concerns, the menu itself offers compelling options that are worth exploring. The potential for a delicious, authentic meal is there, and many food trucks, including this one, can have a loyal following for a reason. For those who love comfort food and are willing to take a chance on a local, street-side experience, the unique mac and cheese dishes and the jerk meats could be a rewarding choice. It's a risk-reward situation, but the flavors on the menu suggest that when done right, the food at Island Spice Grill could be a truly satisfying experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Disgusting food!! Flavorless, small portions, jerk chicken was undercooked, and the curry chicken had tiny “chicken” legs as they claim but I had it tested, it was pigeon. No chicken has an inch inch and half of width and only 3inches long. liarsssss!!!! They cheat you out your money. Please don’t waste your money!! Someone else I know who told me after they saw me with the food told me they were sick for days because they had their “lunch special”, yea, uh-huh it’s “special” alright. These people need to be stopped and held accountable. Trust me they will be!! I bought mine a block away from 3959 Broadway by 168st, NY. They’re only there on Thursdays.
April 17 · Speak up!Ordered a Mac and Cheese from this truck. Menu had no pricing information listed - there was a sign on the truck stating to scan a QR code for prices. Menu online stated the Mac and Cheese was $8. The cashier told me the total was over $13. When I questioned her about it she said the additional charge was taxes and fees (from paying via credit card). I told her that didn't add up and she said the Mac and cheese was $10 not $8 as stated on the website! Absurd. Would never order from here again. Portions were extremely small as well.
August 09 · Arielle RossThe chef is excellent and so kind and professional!! Loved my food! Can’t beat the price either
June 12 · Eboni The GreatWas in the city during lunch looking for somewhere to eat and came across this truck. I tried the lobster mac. It was delicious. The lobster was a fried lobster tail on a bed of macaroni pie. I enjoyed it. Pro tip add a bit of jerk sauce on it. Thank me later ☺️
October 21 · Travelicious_dI had this food off a food truck and it was sooo disgusting. The jerk chicken lacked jerk and seasoning, the rice and peas is nasty & I’m scared to taste the plantain. And they charged $35Believe the other reviews— wish I would’ve read the reviews before I ordered.Whoever the owner/cook is — please find somewhere else to put your energy. Stop playing with ppl food. Leave cooking to someone else 🤢
